Whilst initialy a box office failure, the film went on to become a favourite in households across the world, years after its initial release. Now for the first time, your band can enjoy the music from the film in this selection that includes 'Golden Ticket', 'The Candy Man' and of course, the unforgettable 'Pure Imagination'. The music of Leslie Bricusse & Anthony Newley has been a hit for many years and continues to make TV and radio appearances. 'The Candy Man' was perhaps best known when covered by Sammy Davis Jr where it made it to number one in the USA. 'Pure Imagination' has been used countless times in adverts in the media and more recently, recorded by Jamie Callum for his album 'Momentum'. 'Pure Imagination' can also be performed as a stand-alone item. This is truly an all-time classic filled with a feast of musical variety that fits well into just about any concert. After the success of Mary Popping in 1964, Disney once again had a hit on their hands seven years later with the release of 'Bedknobs & Broomsticks'. Set in 1940, the film told the story of Eglantine Price, a spinster who was learning the ways of witchcraft to help Britain with the War effort. Richard & Robert Sherman provided another excellent score, with memorable songs that now for the first time, are available for Brass Band. This toe-tapping new work features The Old Home Guard, The Age of Not Believing, Portabello Road and, The Beautiful Briny Sea (with added bubbles!). Audiences of all ages will appreciation this title and is a great addition to any concert programme. Gemini Concerto was commissioned by and written for Ryukoku University (Japan), Andre Henry and Shoichiro Hokazono. Set in three movements, the concerto aims to explore the close relationship, as solo instruments, between the cornet and euphonium, exploiting the many common factors between the two as well as the subtly different characteristics they possess in terms of both lyrical and rhythmic playing. The first movement is a bustling toccata and the second movement is lyrical and improvisatory in nature. A fantastic piece and a great addition to the repertoire!

£60.76Caprice (Euphonium Solo with Brass Band) Andrew Batterham
VIEW SCORE PDF Caprice was written for Matthew van Emmerik, to showcase his virtuosity in an engaging piece of concert music. The work is in theme and variation form, with the primary material being the theme from the last of Paganini's Ventiquattro Capricci per violino solo, a collection of 24 caprices for solo violin. This theme has been the inspiration for similar works by many composers since it was first published, including Liszt, Brahms, Rachmaninov, Benny Goodman and Andrew Lloyd Webber. In this work, the famous theme is treated to a more contemporary approach. The first variation, Capricious, relies on motor rhythms and jagged dialogues between the soloist and the band. It is couched in an organic scale reminiscent of the Phrygian mode. The second variation, Sad, is in direct contrast, acting as a traditional ballad and allowing the soloist to explore the expressive side of the instrument. The third variation, Energetic, is a micro set of variations in itself, designed to display the soloist's innovative technique and stamina. Each section is more challenging than the last, until the work concludes with a whirlwind dance at breakneck speed. Like all of Batterham's recent work, the musical language of Caprice draws upon classical, jazz, funk and ska elements to create a unique sound where anything can happen, and probably will. This arrangement was made possible through Matt's instigation and generosity. £49.37Angel Voices (Rhapsody for Soprano Cornet & Band) Brian Bowen
This solo for soprano cornet and brass band was written by the late Brian Bowen for the New York Staff Band in 1989 when Gordon Ward was its very fine soprano cornetist. The title comes from a song by Ernest Rance (music) and Reginald Woods (lyrics) published by The Salvation Army in 1955. In this rhapsody Rance's melody is first alluded to by the horns at the pick-up to bars 19-21, then more fully with the soloist's entry to bar 51 (but in minor mode until bar 55). Much of the original music is ethereal in nature, maybe reflecting the angelic hosts. Published by BrookWright Music in 2023, the score now carries the inscription 'To the memory of Linda Ward' - Gordon Ward's wife who very sadly died in November 2021. £34.18The Piano Preludes (Brass Band) George Gershwin arr. Rob Bushnell
First performed by the composer at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York in 1926, The Piano Preludes (or Three Preludes) are a collection of short pieces by George Gershwin, show casing early-20th-century American classical music, as influenced by jazz. Gershwin originally planned to compose 24 preludes, wrote seven, performed only six publically and was further reduced to three when first published. The work was dedicated to friend and musical advisor Bill Daly. The first prelude begins with a five-note blues motif. It features syncopated rhythms based on the Brazilian baiao and minor-seventh chords throughout. The second prelude, which Gershwin said was "a sort of blues lullaby" consists of two sections: the first a "lazy" melody upon a steady beat of crotchets; the second the bass takes the melody, continuing with the steady beats. The third prelude was called "Spanish" by Gershwin, and features a question-and-answer type melody, starting in a minor tonality and ending in major one. This arrangement is for the British-style brass band, with alternative parts for horns in F and bass-clef lower brass. The opera The Flying Dutchman (Der Fliegende Hollander) was first performed in Dresden in 1843, conducted by the composer, who had also written the libretto, and 27 years later became Wagner's first opera to be performed in London. The opera describes the search of a Dutch sea-captain for a woman who will be faithful to him. The very popular overture encapsulates much of the story-line of the opera, including the wild swirling ocean, a strong motif depicting the hero and tender music associated with Senta, the lady he seeks. This brass band arrangement was initially prepared for the 50th anniversary in 1983 of the GUS Band, which the arranger was successfully directing at the time. In 1936, Sergei Prokofiev was commissioned by Natalya Sats and the Central Children's Theatre in Moscow to write a musical symphony for children. Drawing from various sources, he created Peter and the Wolf, a work designed to introduce young audiences to the instruments of the orchestra. Prokofiev conducted both the Moscow premiere in May 1936 and the first English-language performance in Boston in 1938. In this adaptation for brass band, Duncan Wilson has abridged the original 25-minute score into a concert-friendly 18-minute version. All core material and principal themes remain intact. While the full band represents the character of Peter, the arrangement suggests seating the four other main characters (Bird, Duck, Cat, and Grandfather) slightly apart from the main ensemble. To enhance the performance, players may choose to develop their characters using costumes and accessories.
