£34.95Three Carols (Brass Band - Score and Parts) - Turrin, Joseph
Three Carols was commissioned by the New York Philharmonic as part of their Holiday Brass series and was premiered at Avery Fisher Hall by the New York Philharmonic Principal Brass and Canadian Brass. Originally for 10 players, soon after the premiere I decided to score the piece for brass band. The brass band version was first performed by the New York Staff Band.Through the years I have been intrigued by carious carols from different countries and the challenge of creating musical treatments that sound fresh and original. When commissioned to write these brass arrangements, I wanted to create contrasting movements that could be performed either as a set or individually and thought that three carols from different countries would allow the opportunity for that contrast. The featured carols are the traditional Polish carol Infant Holy, What child is this? with lyrics by William Dix and set to the English folk song Greensleeves and the lesser-known Catalonian carol Cold December flies away.- Joseph Turrin

Two boys from Felanitx: Pere Obrador and Miquel Angel Cerda. Having finished school, one stayed in Mallorca, while the other one left to study in Madrid. Some years later, homesickness and a yearning for the sea brought Miquel back. The turning point in their lives came in 1994. They realised their dream and produced their first wine. Their vision was to produce a real "Balearic Wine" from native grapes such as Callet, Mantonegro and Fogoneu. Anima Negra captures the stunning landscape of Mallorca in a single glass of wine. Flashback was written for Lee Rigg and the Wardle Academy Youth Band and opened their winning programme at the 2022 European Youth Championships (Development Section) in Birmingham England.Prior to his transition to the conductors podium Lee was a long serving member of the Black Dyke Band and considered by many (including myself) to be perhaps the world's greatest repiano cornet player!In many respects our careers have run in parallel and a number of my works over the years have included solos with Lee in mind. Into Your Eyes was commissioned by the Nielse ConcertBand (Belgium) to celebrate its tenth anniversary. The band was formed through the fusion of two existing music societies by the late Michel Versavel, who was the combined ensemble's first conductor. This wonderful chorale is a hymn to his memory, and is dedicated to the further growth and advancement of the band. Duration: 3.30

Fanfare for a New Era is the most substantial of Edward Gregson's fanfares and was the result of a private commission by Lady Sheila Stoller to celebrate the opening in April 2017 of the Stoller Hall at Chetham's School of Music, Manchester. Gregson dedicated it to Sir Norman Stoller, who donated the funding for the new concert hall. The Fanfare was designed to fill the whole space, with separate brass choirs - trumpets, horns, trombones and tuba - playing their own music. A solo trumpeter playing 'on high' announces first the four horns and timpani, who enter with a stately measure. Next the herald trumpeter ushers in trombones, tuba and drums, with a faster dance. Finally, the remaining three trumpets amplify the peeling of bells. All four elements then come together, surrounding the audience with a 'joyful noise' of festive brass and percussion.Duration: 3.00

This carol was written by James Montgomery. It was first published in a local newspaper - the Sheffield Iris on Christmas Eve in 1816. Originally sung to a number of melodies, the music most associated with this carol is a French melody 'Iris'. The refrain 'Gloria in Excelsis Deo' was added in the version published in 'The Oxford Book of Carols' (1928), thus establishing the most widely recognised version of this carol. Duration: 4.00

Bring Me Sunshine is a song written in 1966 by the composer Arthur Kent, with lyrics by Sylvia Dee. It was first recorded by The Mills Brothers in 1968, on their album My Shy Violet. In the UK, the song is synonymous with the popular comedy duo Morecambe & Wise, after it was adopted as their signature tune in their second series for the BBC in 1969. Christopher Bond provided a beautiful instrumental arrangement for brass band.Duration: 2.15

Moon River Cha Cha was arranged to be part of Cory Band's winning set from Brass in Concert 2016 which was entitled; 'The Remarkable Life of Roald Dahl'. The centenary of Dahl's birth in Wales was celebrated in 2016, and this piece comes from the 1961 film Breakfast at Tiffany's which starred Dahl's first wife, Patricia Neal. The easy-listening style of the music portrays the glamour and glitz of Roald Dahl's immediate post-war life in the USA.Duration: 2.30
