There is little doubt in anyone's mind that Goff Richards' music enriched the Brass Band repertoire with his colourful and imaginative arrangements and compositions. Composer, Gavin Somerset was encouraged when younger by Goff, to write for Brass Bands after they had worked on an arrangement together. Following the passing of Goff back in 2011, this melodic, yet powerful work that reflected upon two of Goff's popular compositions for band, Pastorale & Country Scene, was composed. Seven years on, this work is only now being released and provides an emotional music tribute, which both players and audiences will enjoy over and over again.

This effective new arrangement creates a haunting atmosphere for your concerts, as some of the most well-loved Christmas carols are scored in a way unheard of before. Opening with God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen in a cinematic scene, the work wouldn't feel out of place on the set of a Tim Burton film score. Hey Presto! - Gerry McColl
This new gem of a solo for Euphonium is a rousing piece from start to finish. Starting with heavy syncopation from the band before the soloist can show off with this catchy little tune that you will be whistling for days (if you can whistle that fast!) The middle section then breaks into a beautiful legato tune for the soloist up in the top register, whilst the rest of the band keep on ploughing away underneath. The original tune then returns after a modulation and finishing with the soloist showing off their chromatic runs in the last couple of bars. This is one of the best new entertaining solos around.

£29.50Mad World - Roland Orzabal - Gavin Somerset
Recently brought back into the limelight by its use in the Lloyds Bank TV advert, this song was originally released by the British band Tears For Fears, but it was not until it was covered by Gary Jules for the soundtrack of Donnie Darko that it became a number one hit. The re-scoring of the original gave the music a much darker feel and its melody became haunting with a slower tempo. Now finally available for band, this arrangement allows bands the chance to show off their soft, lyrical playing before a heavier ending sets in. The work is a great choice for any concert programme if you're after something different, yet popular at the same time this is a must have for any occasion.

Put together by Simon Cowell, his search for 4 young singers took over 2 years before the group was finally put together. Performing lyrical songs in their operatic style worldwide and achieving number 1 hits here in the UK, Johnathan Bates has now arranged this moving number as a Eb Horn solo (would also work as a soprano solo). A heart-warming melody and a perfect addition to any bands repertoire.

First performed in 1882, the Nutcracker Suite (which included this march) was a huge success and became highly popular. The march features in the ballet when the children march around the tree on Christmas eve, filled with excitement and anticipation of the next morning. Some great lip slurs for the Solo Cornets whilst Basses have moving staccato quavers to keep them occupied.

Written for the opening of the band's concerts at the "Victory Club" which was also home to the Stocksbridge Band Club (now, the City of Sheffield Band Club), where the weekly concerts have grown more and more in popularity.
