£99.99Sparkling Brass - Philip Sparke
Sparkling Brass was commissioned by Osaka Concert Brass, one of Japan's top brass bands, and premiered by them on 27th December 2018 during a concert which celebrated their 10th Anniversary. The work opens in lively mood with fanfare-style figures from the lower band which are answered by the cornets. This interplay intensifies until the mood calms suddenly to introduce a chorale which leads to a duet-cadenza for cornet and euphonium. The rhythmic mood of the opening soon returns and leads to the main theme of the work, a modal caccia which features various section of the band. A short bridge passage leads to a change of key and a new cantabile theme which isintroduced by euphoniums and baritone. This is taken up by the full band after another change of key and leads back to the caccia theme. A transformed version of the opening fanfare returns to close the work.

A flashback is an interesting psychological phenomenon: a seemingly random trigger can bring back long-forgotten memories from the subconscious mind. The composer underwent a similar experience before writing this piece. He was asked to write a piece for The National Youth Fanfare Band in the Netherlands, one which he heard perform many years ago. All of a sudden he remembered Deep Harmony, a piece frequently programmed back then. He used his own flashback-experience as an inspiration to weave an old English hymn into his new composition, much like a musical flashback. The right idea at the right moment, as this piece will prove!

VIEW SCORE PDF Gobsmacked was commissioned by Ravnanger Brass Band (Norway). The composer Robbert Vos writes: 'Gobsmacked is composed as an opening or encore piece which, as the title already reveals, is meant to surprise or overwhelm the audience! After a brief opening fanfare, the main theme is introduced by the solo cornet and euphonium. An accelerando leads to a quick movement, where this main theme is transformed into a con brio. In this section there's a lot of energy to be unleashed and every band member plays a roll in creating that. Throughout the piece there are many surprises, for example some unexpected time changes, percussion effects to wake you and some trombone glissandi to make you smile. After a short and atmospheric reminiscence by the flugel to the solos from the beginning of the piece, there comes a brief percussion interruption which leads to a reprise of the con brio, but this time in slightly different form. This all comes together in the finale where a big accelerando will lead to an exciting close.' Another World's Hell - Simon Dobson
Another World's Hell was commissioned in versions for brass, wind and fanfare bands by the Socit Cantonale des Musiques Vaudoises and the Association Cantonale des Musiques Neuchteloises for the 2013 Swiss Cantonales festivals. It is inspired by a passage in Aldous Huxley's classic 1932 science-fiction novel Brave New World, which describes in unusually close detail the music that is being played at a dance. Symphonic Dimensions is a powerful opening piece with a continually recurring motif. Beginning with a festive fanfare in which the leitmotif is heard for the first time, it continues in a buoyant 12/8 meter. The themes alternate again and again, in various instrumentations, and end in an epic finale. Symphonic Dimensions can equally be played at the end of a concert as a rousing finale.

£104.99Sinfonietta No. 4 - Etienne Crausaz
This work was composed for the occasion of the 28. Fete Cantonale des Musiques Vaudoises (28th Music Festival of the Canton Vaud), taking place in the Valley of Joux in June 2018. The music begins with a very simple fanfare consisting of five ascending legato notes which constitute the fundamental framework of the piece. This contrasts with the more cantabile sounding theme we hear after. The following Allegro section uses the sequence in a contrapuntal style reminding us of the Renaissance period, but with more modern day harmonies. Two solo cadenzas played by cornet and euphonium initiate the middle section, in which a theme also based on the sequence builds uptowards the climax of the piece. The sequence in the last section is played in time but gives the feeling of a "one to the bar" beat. Shortly before the festive finale, the music heard in the middle part resumes.

Movie Fantasy is a film music fantasy in four movements.In the first movement we meet the hero of our story. He is a strong man who fights for justice. The following movement introduces us to the bad guy with his evil mind and vicious plan to destroy our hero. In the third movement they chase each other and end up in a huge fight. They knock each other out and lie still on the ground. Which one of them will survive? In the final movement our hero wakes up at the hospital the very next morning with his girl friend at his side. He realises that he won the fight and the bad guy is set in jail. His girlfriend embraces him and the camera moves back. End credits roll as the piece closes with a fanfare. Each movement can also be played separately.

European Overture - Bertrand Moren

The lento of the middle section gracefully meanders bringing several soloists into the spotlight.
