£51.00Atlantic Zephyrs (Trombone Solo with Brass Band - Score and Parts)
Soloist, composer and teacher Gardell Simons (1878 - 1945) achieved national prominence as trombone soloist with the Sousa Band. He later successfully made the transition to the orchestral world and became principal trombone in the Cleveland Orchestra as well as being professor of trombone at the Curtis Institute Of Music in Philadelphia.This solo dates from 1915 and describes the soft, gentle breezes of Summer. Maybe the atmosphere surrounding the many outdoor concerts in which the composer performed were his inspiration. This brass band arrangement was prepared at the request of Brett Baker for his visit to perform with Brass Band Of The Western Reserve, musical director Dr Keith M Wilkinson, in May 2010.

It provides the opportunity for a glittering bravura moment in a concert, or can be performed as an additional movement to 'Concertino for Brass Band', placed before the slow movement and thereby re-creating the original 'Concerto'.

Visions of Kolkhis was commissioned by Jason Katsikaris and the Leyland Band as a finale for their appearance at the 2009 Brass in Concert Championship Inspired by Jason Katsikaris's Greek lineage, the subject of the work could be considered a metaphor for his impact on the British brass band scene, and the Leyland Band's commitment to striving for excellence.Written in thee continuous sections, the work paints a vivid picture of the island of Kolkhis, a place instrumental in so many tales in Greek mythology. The music represents three individual stories; Jason and the Argonauts, the Golden Fleece, and the liberation of Prometheus by Hercules. However, musical material is drawn from the Leyland Band's signature march, Harold Moss's The Royal Tiger, named after the bus made by Leyland Vehicles in the 1950's.

The name John Philip Sousa is no stranger to any brass band aficionado. Our Flirtations has its origins in incidental music written by Sousa for a play of the same name. It was written around 1880, about the time he was appointed Director of the U.S. Marine Band, a position he held until he formed his own civilian band in 1892. Sousa wrote over 130 marches, many of which have been transcribed for brass band.

This music, in its original four movement form called 'Concerto for Brass Band', was commissioned by Brass Band Treize Etoiles from Switzerland as an own-choice test piece. For its use as the test piece for the Championship Section of the 2008 National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain it was specially published without the second movement Scherzo (available separately) as 'Concertino for Brass Band'.

Based on a poem by Gustaf Froding, King Lily of the Valley is a poetic and regal musical tribute to the delicate flower that, in Froding's verse, appears as a young king surrounded by both sorrow and beauty. Originally composed by David Wikander and arranged for male choir (TTBB) by Rasmus Krigstrom, this evocative work has been masterfully reimagined for brass band by Norwegian arranger and composer Espen Wallacher Haukas and created for Bjorsvik Brass's performance at Siddis Brass 2025. The brass band version retains the choral character and emotional depth of the original, weaving lush harmonies and lyrical phrasing into a rich soundscape. A deeply expressive addition to any brass band repertoire - blending Nordic choral tradition with the grandeur and warmth of the brass band sound. Love Eternal was arranged by Gavin Lamplough for trombone virtuoso Isobel Daws to perform in a special concert with the Melbourne Staff Band to honour its Bandmaster Ken Waterworth, on the occasion of his retirement after 30 years of leading the band. The arranger uses Jarod Cooper's popular contemporary worship song King of Kings, Majesty as the basis for the work and the piece seeks to provide a vehicle for the rich timbres of the trombone to be enjoyed by the listener. £33.83A Century of Art (Brass Band) Robbert Vos
A Century of Art was composed for Brass Band Kunst naar Kracht from the town of De Goorn (The Netherlands) for its 100th anniversary in 2022. A version for Fanfare Orchestra was commissioned by the Fanfare Project Orchestra in 2023. The title of the work refers to Brass Band Kunst naar Kracht's 100-year existence and the array of art that has been created in that time. A Century of is a flashy and virtuosic opening work where melodic lines are combined with other surprising compositional elements. You can hear, among some references to some famous brass band test pieces, a quote from Lohengrin by Richard Strauss. A transcription of Lohengrin was used at the 1922 British Open in England, one of the most famous brass band competitions in the world, the same year as Brass Band Kunst naar Kracht was founded. Written in 1851, the Albion Polka was written by Johann Strauss II (or Strauss Junior) and dedicated to Count Albert of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, husband of Queen Victoria of Great Britain. The work takes its title from the old Roman name for Britain. It is not an unfamiliar addition to the Vienna New Year's Concerts. This arrangement is for the UK-style brass band, with alternative parts for horns in F and bass-clef lower brass.
