Tim Burton weaved his usual brand of zaniness throughout this film and his regular composer, Danny Elfman, created a humorous parody of early B movie sci-fi scores by his use of choir and two theremins - an early synthesizer (optional choir and synth. parts supplied). This arrangement features the music that accompanies the film's horrific opening, a heard of burning cattle stampeding past a shocked family; the scoring here is dissonant and over-the-top with horror value. This is followed by Elfman's quirky Main Title Theme which sees the Martian invasion force enroute to Earth - wicked and fiendish fun ensues.2nd section +

It had a star studded cast, including Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Grace Kelly and Louis Armstrong (who played himself). It was written for the 100th anniversary of Camp Gifford in Loon Lake, Washington, therefore included are well-known songs with references to water as the camp is located on the shores of Deer Lake.551: Going Home (Alan Williams)Richard Jukes' song I'm a soldier bound for Glory (S.A.S.B. 856) displays the confidence of someone with a steadfast faith who is certain that by loving and serving their God they will be accepted into his Kingdom. This assurance results in a joyful song of testimony. Whilst not a direct setting of the five verses, the dance-like rhythm of this cha-cha should reflect the positive and encouraging nature of the lyrics and be full of joy and spirit.552: Whosoever will may come (Noel Jones)This is a two-verse arrangement of the song Whosoever will may come (S.A.S.B. 405), with words written by William John McAlonan and music composed by Alfred Braine. This song is included in the Invitation and Challenge section of the song book. The arrangement should be played in a spirited style.553: March - Sing a praise of celebration (Marcus Venables)This music was written at the request of the Singapore Central Corps Band, who asked that the work be based on two specific meaningful melodies. The first is To the Glory and Praise of God by Robert Redhead, a tune rooted in corporate worship and joyful proclamation, calling God's people to lift their voices in thanksgiving. The other is Home, a beloved Singaporean song that speaks of belonging.

2261: March - Win the world (Paul Sharman)This march was written at the request of Staff Bandmaster Ken Waterworth for the Melbourne Staff Band's visit to South Africa in 2018. It features the tunes We shall win (T.B. 455) and Storm the forts of darkness (T.B. 844) - the latter chosen for its similarity to the Australian national anthem in its opening two bars.2262: Festival March - Alleluia! (Kevin Larsson)Both hymns used in this march, This is my Father's world (S.A.S.B. 66) and All creatures of our God and King (S.A.S.B. 2), bought the composer comfort as he began to grapple with the ramifications of the global pandemic in 2020. Both songs talk about God's sovereignty over nature, revealing himself to us through the beauty and majesty of our world.2263: Prayer gently lifts me (Ty Watson)This is a simple arrangement of the chorus Prayer gently lifts me (S.A.S.B. 783). The piece was written to precede the opening prayer in a band programme.2264: What a Saviour! (Steven Ponsford)This devotional music explores the events of Good Friday, dramatically reminding us of words associated with familiar Easter hymns tunes.
