    Bugeilio'r Gwenith Gwyn (Watching the Wheat) - Welsh Traditional

    Bugeilio'r Gwenith Gwyn is an 18th century Welsh love song known to many by its English title of 'Watching the Wheat'. Although the song describes a tragic love affair, the music remains extremely popular with musicians throughout Wales.This skilful new setting for euphonium and brass band by Welshman Gareth Wood was commissioned by Robert and Lorraine Childs and given to their son David as a 26th birthday present.Bugeilio'r Gwenith Gwyn can be heard on the CD Celtic Charm (DOYCD214) on which the performers are David Childs and the Cory Band.

    Cadillac of the Skies - John Williams

    Cadillac of the Skies is taken from the score to 1987 film Empire of the Sun, by John Williams. As Jim, played by a young Christian Bale, watches in amazement as the P-51 aircrafts attack the camp, he is overcome by the majestic spectacle of the aircraft and screams out joyously, "P-51, Cadillac of the Skies!" with the serene and beautiful music of the scene being wonderfully juxtaposed with the surroundings of war.

    Caelidh - Rodney Newton

    Caelidh was commissioned by Robert and Lorraine Childs and given to their son David as an eighteenth birthday present. Composed by Rodney Newton in 1999 it was first performed by David with Brighouse and Rastrick Band in Huddersfield Town Hall later that year. Caelidh (Ceilidh) is a traditional Gaelic social dance and, following a brief lament, flies into Gaelic dance mode quickening in tempo right to the finish!Caelidh can be heard on the CD Celtic Charm (CD 24901) on which the performers are David Childs and Cory Band.

    Childs Lullaby - Paul Lovatt-Cooper

    Childs Lullaby was commissioned by David Childs for his flugel horn playing wife Joanne, and given to her on as a birthday present before the birth of their son Benjamin Robert Childs in November 2011.The music is serene and showcases the unique lyricism of both soloist and instrument. Lullabies can be found in every human culture and are usually quiet, gentle songs sung to help send a child to sleep. Childs Lullaby, a play on both the definition and dedicatee's name has been composed by Paul Lovatt-Cooper, one of the brass band movement's brightest young star.Childs Lullaby received its world premiere on October 1st 2011 at the Wiltshire Music Centre performed by Joanne Childs and Cory Band conducted by David Childs.

    Circusdom - Frederick Jewell

    Frederick Jewell was a prolific composer of music for the circus in the early 20th century, producing over 100 marches and screamers. He was leader of the Ringling Brothers, Barnum and Bailey, Hagenbeck-Wallace and Sells-Floto circus bands during his career. Circusdom is one of his most popular marches, skilfully arranged for brass band by Bert Van Thienen.
