Scored for two or more soloists and accompanying ensemble or piano and percussion, the flexible scoring means various combinations of instruments can accompany the soloists. In addition, high quality MP3 brass and orchestral backing tracks are included, along with click tracks for practice purposes. The general harmonic format of the Young Artists Series is in five parts. However, this piece will work equally well with larger groups, including full brass bands and wind bands. Andrew Batterham's tour de force Trumpet Concerto showcases the incredible spectrum of emotions the trumpet can convey, in the hands of a dedicated performer. The music ranges from Classical to minimalism, ballads to fanfares, culminating in a wild dance full of stamina and energy. Commissioned by ABC Classic through the ABC Fresh Start Fund, Concerto was premiered by David Elton, Principal Trumpet with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra (previously with London Symphony Orchestra). This brass band version was premiered by David and Victoria Brass, conducted by Matt van Emmerik. A beautiful piece of music by French composer Louise Farrenc, Elevation (sometimes called Elevation pour l'offre divin) was adapted as a piece for organ based on Etude in F-sharp major (No.19) from 20 Etudes de moyenne Difficulte pour Piano, Op. 42 (20 Etudes for piano of average difficulty). The two pieces are almost identical, except for the key and the tempo markings. It is worth noting that, although this arrangement is set at the original tempo, Farrenc, herself, is known to have said that 'sometimes the French play the Andante and the Adagio too fast'.This arrangement includes alternative parts for tenor horn, treble-clef trombone/euphonium and tuba.
