Daniel Schutte's well-known hymn, 'I, the Lord of sea and sky', provides the basis for this major four movement work by Martin Cordner. The use of a four-note motif emphasising the first line of the chorus, 'Here I am, Lord' is evident throughout the work.

This solo was written at the request of Stephen Cobb and was premiered by Derick Kane with The International Staff Band of The Salvation Army in 1999. It subsequently became the title track of the solo CD recorded by the same forces. The theme, commonly known as 'Lord of the Dance', is followed by four variations (waltz, soft shoe, brillante, lento) and a blistering finale! A piano accompaniment version is included in The Derick Kane Euphonium Album.

Peterloo is the derisive name given to an incident that happened on16th August 1819 in St Peters Fields, Manchester, when an orderly crowd of some 80,000 people met to hear a speech on political reform. On the orders of the magistrates they were interrupted by the Yeomanry, who attempted to seize the banners they carried, and to arrest their speaker, Henry Hunt. Cavalry was sent in, and eleven people were killed and four hundred injured in the ensuing panic. This overture attempts to portray these happenings. Suitable for 1st Section Bands and above. Occasion was published especially for the National Youth Brass Band Championship of Great Britain, held at the Royal Albert Hall, London, on 4th October, 1986.Occasion for Brass Band is in four movements: Fanfare, Festivities, Elegy and Dance. The opening Fanfare was originally written as a Wedding Fanfare for Paul and Hazel Patterson in 1981, while the Elegy and Dance were commissioned as a test-piece for the first Westsound/Ayrshire Invitation Contest in 1982 for the leading bands in Scotland. Festivities was therefore written last, to complete the work and give it its essentially 'festive' character. Except for the Elegy, which is contemplative, the music throughout is extrovert and joyful. The opeing Fanfare may be performed separately - of the Fanfare may be ledt out entirely, making the work a three movement Suite.Duration: 11 minutes

(2012) is a work in four parts for trumpets or cornets, premiered by sixty players at the 2012 Black Dyke Brass Festival with Richard Marshall.The work is in one continuous movement, comprising many styles as the work continues. The first movement consists of a sparkling Fanfare followed by a stately Theme which ends quietly. The second movement is a Children's Song; quirky but cute, and the Hymn which follows is a study in calm and tranquillity, featuring a quartet-group of cornet, baritone, trombone and euphonium. The last movement is a virtuosic Toccata which eventually begins to recall the other themes of the suite before a grand reprise of the first movement Theme brings the work to a dazzling conclusion.

£32.99In Praise of Him - Tone Poem Joseph Knight
This original composition is a short reflection on the sweetness of praise to our Lord Jesus. It is my own personal reflection. It starts with a soft sweet melody on horns which is varied and moves throughout the band. The piece is in ternary form and as the melody develops it returns one tone higher, signifying rising praise. It then finishes rousingly with a steadily increasing "Halleluiah" to finish. The piece lasts nearly four minutes and would grace any concert as a character piece.
