VIEW SCORE PDF Canon in D is certainly the most popular and enduring work of Johann Pachelbel (1653-1674). With its repetitive and foundational bass line and the lyrical imitative themes that follow, this music has proven to be especially well suited as a wedding processional, with the flexibility to reduce or lengthen the music as needed for the occasion. Here it has been arranged by William Himes for brass band with flexible scoring, meaning it is playable by as few as 12 players but works equally well with a traditional size band. There is an optional cut reducing the total length of the piece by around 1.30 minutes if required. PDF download includes score and full set of parts. ABOUT THIS PIECE: "Korobeiniki" is a nineteenth-century Russian folk song that tells the story of a meeting between a peddler and a girl, describing their haggling over goods in a veiled metaphor for courtship. Outside of Russia, "Korobeiniki" is widely known as the Tetris theme (titled "A-Type" in the game), from its appearance in Nintendo's 1989 version of the game. Thames Journey is a 10-minute musical journey that follows the river Thames from its origins, as a few drops of water in Wiltshire, to the point where it meets the open sea at Greenwich. Along the way, Hess draws upon many musical links along the Thames, such as an old Wiltshire melody, morris dancing in Oxfordshire, boating songs from Berkshire and street songs in London. DURATION: 2'00". DIFFICULTY: Difficult. J.S Bach originally composed 'Badinerie' as part of his Orchestra Suite No. 2 in B Minor, and quickly became one of the most popular virtuoso show-pieces for flute players due to it's quick pace and complexity. In more modern times, the melody has become synonymous with the Nokia mobile phone ringtone, one of 2 famous early ringtones based on the music of Bach (alongside his Prelude to Cello Suite No.1). One lesser known take on the classic Badinerie is by Italian drummer Andrea Vadrucci (alias Vadrum) who has made a global reputation for himself by taking various well-known classical works and re-imagining them into a rock/metal style, and it is this interpretation which acts as the inspiration for this showy, yet tongue-in-cheek feature for percussion. .
