Only You - Vincent Clarke - Andrew Keegan

Originally beginning life as a joke item, this track was to feature on Kylie Minogue’s 2015 Christmas album. James Corden & Kylie Minogue have been good friends since hosting the BRIT awards in 2009 and upon completing the recording, record producers took a liking to it and elevated the song to single status. The piece makes a great cornet/horn duet and although was initially released for a Christmas album, it is not a Christmas song. Light accompaniments and a simple, beautiful melody ensure this new duet will be a hit with players and audiences alike. *Soprano Cornet solo part included as an extra to perform as a Soprano/Horn Duet.

Benvenuto Cellini - Score Only - Hector Berlioz

One of Berlioz's ill-fated operas, Benvenuto Cellini was first produced at the Paris Opera in September 1838. It was withdrawn as a failure after only four performances. Neither did the solitary performace given at Covent Graden some fiftenn years later, in the presence of Queen Victoria and Price Albert, meet with any greater success. But when in 1888 it was produced at Dresden it was acclaimed by the Germans as a triumph. The Carl Rosa Opera did much to revive interest in the work.Adapted from certain episodes recorded in the memoirs of Benvenuto Cellini, Tuscan sculptor and goldsmith, the story laid in Rome during the mid-sixteenth century is not strictly historical.Berlioz must have been well pleased with this opera despite its ealy failure. Not only did he include in the overture several of its themes - a not unusual pracitce - but he fashioned another overture with its material as well - the great Le Carnaval Romain. The short opening Allefro marked deciso con impeto is conceived in the most brilliant Berlioz manner, utilizing full instrumentation. In the Larghetto, we meet at once the first of the opera themes - the Cardinal's aria (from the last act) introduced in the bass, quasi pizzicato. A second melody leads to a resumption of the Allegro, the contrasting second subject in the tenor horns being an adaption of Teresa's aria (Act 1). Towards the end, the 'Cardinal'theme is re-introduced by trombone fortissimo against an energetic florid cornet and euphonium passage (seneza stringendo - without hurry, says the score). After a unison passage storming skywards, there is a sudden dramatic three-bar silent pause broken by Eb basses alone, again stating the 'Cardinal' theme. A simple molto cresendo on the dominant, begun piano, leads to the final long, resounding chord.

Drink to Me Only with Thine Eyes (Brass Band - Score only)

The lyrics to Drink to Me Only with Thine Eyes can be traced to English poet Ben Jonson, a contemporary of Shakespeare. The melody's origin, on the other hand, is not certain. In this three- movement arrangement, Philip Sparke provides the soloist with plenty of substance while respecting the beautiful simplicity of the original tune. 05:40

Clapp!!! - Score Only - Paul McGhee

'Clapp!!!!' was originally written in 2006 whilst studying at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and was written for two players at one piano. The music uses rhythmic phasing with each rhythm assigned it's own tone cluster - as each shift in rhythm occurs the harmonic structure is altered too. Melodic passages are created through the shifts in rhythm and harmony, but these only occur within the given rhythmic parameters. The music can very much be viewed as a study in momentum, with its unrelenting pulse driving us through the music. The Brass Band version of 'Clapp!!!!' was written for Manger Musikklag and Torstein Aagaard-Nilsen, receiving its premiere at the 2010 BrassWind Festival in Bergen, Norway. The Whitburn Band featured Clapp!!!! at their 2012 Brass in Concert programme and the piece was featured by the Grimethorpe Colliery Brass Band on their 'Grimethorpe Entertain' CD.

Concerto Grosso - Score Only - Derek Bourgeois

About this new digitized editionThis edition was digitized in 2012 by Espen Wallacher Haukas, former principal percussion in Manger Musikklag, with help from his fellow band members Tina Kvamme and Christian Breistein. Together with conductors Martin Philip Winter and Philip Harper, the handwritten material was proof-read and corrected to make a new version, performed at the Norwegian Brass Band Championship of 2014. We compared the original ten-piece material to the brass band version and altered some notes/articulation to match the original. There were also some bars of percussion that enhanced the lines of the music in the ten-piece version that has been added in the percussion parts (with Derek's permission). The only change that has been done is to write the Flugelhorn solo at number 39 in 4/4 instead of 2/4; sounding just the same but having a calmer and more relaxed visual expression, to make it easier for the performer to read.

Plus Ultra (Score Only) - Andrew Stevenson

    - SCORE ONLY -Plus Ultra was commissioned for the Intermediate section of the 2015 National Youth Championships of Great BritainPlus Ultra is based on the twelve labours of Hercules, in particular the tenth. During the completion of this labour, Hercules had to split a mountain apart and sail into an unknown part of the world. By splitting the mountain, he connected the Atlantic Ocean to the Mediterranean Sea and formed the Straight of Gibraltar. One part of the split mountain is Gibraltar and the other is Monte Hacho. These two mountains taken together have since then been known as the Pillars of Hercules. The Pillars appear as supporters of the coat of arms of Spain. The motto Plus Ultra (Latin for further beyond) is closely associated with the Pillars of Hercules to mark the edge of the then known world. According to mythology, the pillars bore the warning "Non plus ultra" (nothing further beyond) serving as a warning to sailors and navigators to go no further. The music in Plus Ultra depicts the struggle of the tenth labour, the dividing of the mountain, the mystery of what lies beyond the known world and the triumphant return of Hercules after completing the task.
