Durkle Bandrydge Suite - Bruce Fraser
Durkle Bandrydge is the name of the composers imaginary world, but it could very well be anyones invisible dream world with a different name. In this very versatile suite by Bruce Fraser, 8 characters are featured, each with its ownpeculiarities, making Durkle Bandrydge such a colourful place. Do these characters differ that much from us? That is for you to find out! In the last part, all characters come together in a special way.Durkle Bandrydge exists at the end ofyour street. It is invisible to humans, but Durkle Bandrygators can watch us with great interest. The music will introduce you to some of the characters who live in this unusual place. The parts: Somnanbulyss, who is a giant trollguarding the entrance to Durkle Bandryde. At least, he is supposed to, but he tends to sleep most of the time. His music is therefore very slow moving and sleepy. Long Gwysteen is a tall, mysterious, and somehow sophisticated character,who walls around with a shell on his back. His music glides along rather gracefully. Squelfitch is a rather unpleasant and smelly character who lives in a bog, which is why his music sounds rather slimy and a bit like trying to walkthrough quicksand. Perfydlia is a meddling old woman, who gossips about everybody and squeals with sudden delight at the small exciting bits of tittletattle about others in the village. In the music you can hear her sudden little squealsof delight. Maryann Lovely is a beautiful young lady, graceful, gorgeous, absolutely devine, and her music is obviously just the same. Thistledoo Nicely is a lively character who spends and spends and spends with her credit card,buying the latest fashion and never worries about having to pay the bills. Her music reflects her excitement when shopping and het 'happy go lucky' approach to life. Marsyn Edginton is the Lord of the manor, the richest man in town, the'big cheese', the man with all the power and, of course, the biggest house. He is very grand and his music like he could be a king. Jimmy McScotsmyn is a red haired scotsman wearing tartan cap. He misses his home country terribly and eatslots of shortbread, oatcakes, scotch eggs, porridge and drinks an enormous amount of Scotch Wisky, which helps him to have fond memories of the kind of music he would like to dance to when he was a younger man. His favourite dance is a Jig andthis is the music he remembers. Grand March of the Durkle Bandrydgators. £104.99High Flyers - Andrew R. Mackereth
From the composer: High Flyers are regarded as people with promise and potential.They are winners. This is music for winners.The title, as well as being a play-on-words, implies the nature of the work. It is a bright, optimistic, and upbeat piece attempting to depict an exhilarating ride on flying carpet. The opening rising chords immediately suggest the gentle elevation of the carpets' ascent towards unknown heights, leading to a hint of a first theme in the horns at Fig. B. The first four notes provide the thematic material for the whole work: C F G A.A perpetual sense of movement is achieved through accented quaver chords punctuating the melodicmaterial of the first main theme. Fig. E sees the music of the opening bars fully realised, with flourishes from the euphonium and baritones representing swirling clouds, shooting stars, or passing birds in flight.The same subject is developed into a lyrical second theme with a new lush harmonic treatment, evocative of gliding over an expanse of sparse countryside.This section ends with a note of serenity but is shattered by the urgent insistence of the percussion rhythms.The third section introduces a new idea with a slightly distorted fanfare in the cornets and trombones. This figure suggests for the first time that there may be trouble ahead. In fact, there is no need to fear and the journey can continue without aggravation. This fanfare returns near the end to signal a final note of triumph.A new rhythmic variant of the cell motif emerges as the third theme now transformed by the addition of a triplet figure. The music steadily gains momentum before moving inexorably towards the climactic return of the music and tonality of the opening bars of the piece.

Grant Kirkhope is a BAFTA nominated British composer who has created the soundtrack for video games that have sold in excess of 30 million copies. From "GoldenEye" to "Banjo-Kazooie", "Viva Pinata" to "Donkey Kong", "Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning" to "Civilization: Beyond Earth" and "Perfect Dark" to "Castle of Illusion starring Mickey Mouse". He has also recently scored the feature film "The King's Daughter" starring Pierce Brosnan and William Hurt and is currently working on "Yooka Laylee" and "Dropzone". Grant's score for "Viva Pinata" was nominated by BAFTA in the Original Score category in its 2007 awards. Grant is represented by the prestigious Gorfaine/Schwartz Agency by Cheryl Tiano and Kevin Korn. Grant has a degree in music from the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester, where he majored in classical trumpet, is a green card holder and now lives in Agoura Hills, LA with his wife and two children.

The quintessential most English of English classical music concerts and the self-styled world's largest and most democratic musical festival". The "Proms", originally known as The Henry Wood Promenade Concerts are an eight-week summer season of daily orchestral classical music concerts and other events held annually, predominantly in the Royal Albert Hall in London. Founded in 1895, each season now consists of more than 70 concerts in the Albert Hall, a series of chamber concerts at Cadogan Hall, additional Proms in the Park events across the United Kingdom on the last night, and associated educational and children's events. Often held as outdoor concerts in London's pleasure gardens, where the audience was free to stroll around while the orchestra was playing, this tradition has once again been revived in parks and stately homes not only in the UK, but across the world. The first series of promenade concerts were held indoors at the Queen's Hall in Langham Place. The idea was to encourage an audience for concert hall music who, though not normally attending classical concerts, would be attracted by the low-ticket prices and more informal atmosphere. In addition to "promenading" or "promming"; eating, drinking and smoking was all allowed. Many people's perception of the "Proms" is taken from the "Last Night", although this concert is very different from the others. The concert is traditionally of a lighter vein, with popular classics being followed by a series of British patriotic pieces in the second half of the concert. This second half sequence traditionally includes most of the works included in this medley. Many in the audience use the occasion for an exuberant display of Britishness. Union Jack Flags are carried and waved by the "Prommers", especially during "Rule, Britannia!". Balloons and party poppers are also in abundance.

Steve has been inspired by fond memories of hearing Alpine Bands and seeing knee slapping dancers performing in Switzerland for this piece. It starts with some off-stage calls (which could even be from an Alpine Horn if one is available), and moves into a lively dance section, ending with a little yodeling! £59.91The Glory of Colour (Brass Band) Ivan G. Andrews
This work by Ivan Andrews was inspired by the large Baptistry window of the new Coventry Cathedral and will be suitable both as a contest or concert work. The window was conceIved and designed by Basil Spence and was intended to be a worldwide experience. When installed it was claimed to be "the single largest window in stained glass that hitherto had ever been contemplated and brought into existance." The stained glass design was done by artist John Piper and when completed was described by Bishop Bardsley as a "triumphant expression of faith, a faith encapsulated in the 'glory of colour'".* Hence the title for the piece. The composer writes: 'When thinking of this music the traditional tune now often called Monks Gate kept coming to me. The words often sung to this tune were penned by John Bunyan and each stansa ends with the words "To be a pilgrim". The Cathedral in Coventry, although a Christian Church, is designed to bring all faiths together in Unity - there is a "Unity Chapel" opposite the Baptistry window so the concept of pilgrimage seemed perfectly apt to me. The music is therefore designed to reflect many colours as there are many expressions of faith. Single fragments of the Monks Gate tune are used as a basis for what might be deemed 'variations'. The tune is heard in full towards the end of the piece and then the music rises to a climax of bright brilliant white light. The colours of the window are darker on the outer edges but they all circulate towards the brilliant white at the centre - representing the source of all faith.' COMPOSER: Charles StanfordARRANGER: Neil LockTo celebrate the planned re-opening of St. Mary's Church, Liss, 2020In 1909, Charles Villiers Stanford composed the chant to which the last psalm in the book, Psalm 150, is now usually sung. This is a free arrangement of that tune for brass band, which can be used either as a stand-alone piece or as an encore, particularly at the end of a concert in a church. I use some of Stanford's original harmonies, but most of the chords are my own.At the beginning and end, imagine the band playing at one end of a cathedral. After the first, very loud phrase, we hear the sound reflected back from the far end. The fast main section is divided into six "verses" as follows:Praise him in the cornets and trumpets;Praise him in the horns and baritones;Praise him in the deepest basses,And praise him in the trombones;Praise him in the loud percussion,And in the euphoniums.This piece was first played in public as part of the Liss Band's first formal post-COVID concert, in St. Mary's Church, Liss on July 16th, 2022.Suitable for most bandsLM469ISMN : 9790570004690
