This piece was commisioned by The Norwegian Band Federation - Northwestern Region for an summer festival in Eid. Intrada Orientale recieved it's first performance there in 2012. It is a concert-opener with an oriental flavour, with challenging parts for all players. The composition is built around a driving snare drum part.

£104.99Sinfonietta No. 4 - Etienne Crausaz
This work was composed for the occasion of the 28. Fete Cantonale des Musiques Vaudoises (28th Music Festival of the Canton Vaud), taking place in the Valley of Joux in June 2018. The music begins with a very simple fanfare consisting of five ascending legato notes which constitute the fundamental framework of the piece. This contrasts with the more cantabile sounding theme we hear after. The following Allegro section uses the sequence in a contrapuntal style reminding us of the Renaissance period, but with more modern day harmonies. Two solo cadenzas played by cornet and euphonium initiate the middle section, in which a theme also based on the sequence builds uptowards the climax of the piece. The sequence in the last section is played in time but gives the feeling of a "one to the bar" beat. Shortly before the festive finale, the music heard in the middle part resumes.

£84.99Festivus Americas - Stephen Bulla
Dedicated to the North American Brass Band Association, this is music that is full of energy and dynamic extremes. In form it draws from the overture style, although the themes are self-existing and the piece is programmatic. Working well asa festival opener, it sets a mood of excitement. Following the rhythmic fanfares of the opening, the first theme is presented in the cornets followed by a return to the same rhythmic material. A second theme appears in the horn section and isdeveloped, changing into a darker and sinister form of the same motif. Eventually a Maestoso section is reached, full of sustained block chords in the cornets and trombones, as the rest of the band counters with cascading lines that weavestraight through the brighter instruments.

As with his march Fresena, Jacob de Haan assimilated a well-known folksong from his province of birth (Friesland) into this swinging composition. Both works originate from a festival suite that he once wrote by order of this province.

£50.00Sweeney Todd - Malcolm Arnold
Malcolm Arnold's ballet, Sweeney Todd, was first staged in 1959 by The Royal Ballet Company with choreography by John Cranko. The music was later adapted as a concert work and it is from this versionthat this brass band arrangement is made. The original concert suite lasts some 20 minutes, but this version has been shortened to a more manageable eight minutes. The first performance of this arrangement was given on the22nd October 2006 at the Malcolm Arnold Festival, Derngate, Northampton by the Rushden Windmill Band conducted by Richard Graves. Brass Band Grade 4: Advanced Youth and 3rd Section. Duration 8 minutes.

A Forest Symphony was commissioned for the 2007 Voices in the Forest Festival, with the support of Creative Partnerships, the Forest of Dean. The first performance was given the Lydbrook Band. A ForestSymphony explores the hidden and magical world of the forest; secrets that may only be seen the animals who live there, or by fortunate ramblers who stray from the beaten path. Nigel Hess' vivacious and colourful A Christmas Overture, originally commissioned as an orchestral work by John Rutter for his 2007 Christmas Festival, proved an instant success with audience and orchestra alike. Traditional carols, skilfully juxtaposed and interwoven, provide the thematic material. These include Ding Dong! Merrily On High; Il Est N Le Divin Enfant; Infant Holy, Infant Lowly; Personent Hodie; We Wish You A Merry Christmas and Angels From The Realms Of Glory, which brings the overture to a majestic close. Fragments of other carols appear along the way to enrich the texture of what is surely one of the mostattractive pieces written for the festive season. Brass Band Grade 4/5.
