With hits like "Somewhere Out There", "Dreams to Dream" and "Way Out West" all included in the suite, the music of James Horner can set emotions rolling, there is something for everyone to enjoy. With the whole concert suite lasting around 10 minutes, there are optional cuts written when if played, can cut the suite down to 6 minutes, as well as cutting out some difficult parts for lower section bands. This exciting new 22-minute concert suite for Brass Sextet has been composed during the months of lockdown charting the feelings of a nation, with seven movements playable by 6 (or more) players. The music was composed with the intention for players to perform either together live in a small group, in isolation by way of a virtual performance (downloadable backing tracks are available to play along to) and ultimately, to give players something to enjoy as we all miss our brass band families. This concert suite is the perfect addition to all bands' libraries at a time when rehearsals are limited. Several of the movements are already in preparation for a full band edition to be released at a later date: (also available as a digital download worldwide - purchase now & print to play). Based on the book by Victor Hugo, Les Misrables has been entertaining audiences around the world since its first performance in London in 1985. Whilst the initial critical reviews were not favourable, the paying public disagreed and the success of the West End musical led to a Broadway production. The show had a big revival in 2012 with the release of the hit film. In this new specially arranged Concert Suite, which features a built in encore - the Epilogue to the show (should you wish to use it) and an optional cut omitting the more difficult sections (making the work accessible to lower section bands), this work gives your band the chance to bring a touch of Broadway to your audience. The Suite features the Prologue, On My Own, Bring Him Home, Master of the House, One Day More & Can You Hear The People Sing? A great audience pleaser and grand concert or contest work that belongs in every bands library.

Here we present "Griffenfeldt, a folk-dance in the style of a Norwegian reinlender.This arrangement can be used as the first item in a concert, or after an interval.The musicians can come on stage as they join in. That is why two of the measures are notated "repeat till ready", here you have to wait until everyone is in place! If everyone is ready from the start, the repetition can be omitted.Be sure to play with a bouncy but singing style, not with short and harsh articulations.Do the trills on the beat, but these can also be omitted if it makes it too difficult.To bring out the folk music style a little extra, you can ask the musicians to play on the "backbeat", i.e. emphasize the last half of each quarter-note.In addition, the music will really come to life if all "solo" places are done standing up.The musician Anon Egeland tells this story:This song got its name from a party where it all just got a bit too lively: one of the party-goers started shooting into the ceiling with a gun just as this reinlender was being played. The fiddler - or was it the man with the gun? - was called Griffenfeldt, and that gave the name for the song.

When Jerker Johansson in the 80's started to compose he was for a while obsessed with writing music in odd time signatures, more specifically 7/8. He was asked during the fall of 2020 by Leif Karlsson (former member of the legendary percussion ensemble Kroumata and nowadays conductor) to write something challenging for Uppsala Blasarsymfoniker and this resulted in Joyful Life. The piece is, to say the least, difficult to tap the pulse along to and is something of a baptism of fire for the musicians, regarding rhythmic precision. Joyful Life is dedicated to the always likeable Leif Karlsson (Joyful Leif!) and was premiered on the 15th November 2020 by The Swedish Air Force Band under the baton of the composer.

Laudatio - Bertrand Moren
This piece was commissioned by a brass band from the Jura in Switzerland to thank its resigning conductor for his loyalty and work. The first and last sections of this composition develop a joyful and highly energetic theme which expresses the complete commitment required of a conductor in order to get the best out of the musicians. The central passage mirrors an atmosphere full of nostalgia. After so many years of intense and relentless work, it is always difficult for a keen conductor to retire.

The Lights of Europe - Harm Evers
The inspiration for The Lights of Europe was the continuous growth in unity throughout Europe. The march begins in the minor key (all beginnings are difficult) but unity is found and is clearly audible in the melodious trio of the march.
