The song is a glee written in the early 19th Century by Reginald Spofforth and usually sang at both Easter & Christmas, has recently seen its popularity grow across the nation. 518: March - A Christmas cavalcade (Morgan Juel Stavik)This march contains several Christmas carols and songs. Some are easy to recognise and are identified in the score, while other references are more subtle.519: Christmas bossa nova (Kevin Larsson)Using Jingle Bells, The First Nowell, It came upon the midnight clear and Ding dong! merrily on high, here is a great bossa nova to liven up your Christmas concert.520 (1): In te Domine speravi (Des Prez trs. Zachary Docter)This piece is a transcription of an early 16th century choral work by the Renaissance composer Josquin des Prez. Josquin was a well-known and highly regarded composer in his day. Like many composer of this period, Josquin wrote linearly, valuing independent free-flowing lines over vertical harmonies. As a result, the interlocking counterpoint in this work can be quite complex and the tied rhythms challenging.520 (2): Excerpt from 'Vespers' (Rachmaninoff trs. Andrew Poirier)Sergei Rachmaninoff's setting of the All-Night Vigil (Vespers) Op.37, of which this excerpt is taken, was composed in January and February 1915. The outbreak of World War I in August 1914 took many people by surprise, and to Rachmaninoff it was a severe shock. This compelled him to write a piece that reminded him of his childhood and the importance of the Russian Orthodox Church within the national identity of Russia. The excerpt transcribed here has a quality and enigmatic charm that never fails to move the souls of those that listen to it.521: March - Walk of faith (Stanley Makau)This march introduces Stanley Makau to the band journals. Stanley is currently the Deputy and Youth Bandmaster at Quarry Road Citadel Corps in Nairobi, Kenya. His inspiration for the march primarily came from Psalm 91: 11-12, and the march is in keeping with the traditional style that has been a staple for Salvation Army music-making.

No. 1215 March - Merthyr Tydfil No.34 (Paul Sharman)This march was written at the request of Bandmaster Howard Roberts to celebrate the 125th anniversary of Merthyr Tydfil Corps, corps number 34 in The Salvation Army. The tunes used have obvious Welsh connections wit 'Cwm Rhonnda' and 'Aberystwyth' being featured. 'Aberystwyth' was written by Joseph Parry who lived in Merthyr Tydfil for a while.No. 1216 Mambo - Mighty God (Steven Ponsford)Based on words from Isaiah 9, 'Mighty God' is a song of worship and assurance by Chris Bowater and helen and Mark Johnson. This arrangement will afford bands the opportunity to engage the audience into a lively segment of praise.No. 1217 Song Setting - Jesus, I come (Michael Davis)A setting of George C Stebbins' beautiful melody 'Out of my bondage'.No. 1218 O rock, all ye faithful (William Gordon)The Christmas carol 'O come, all ye faithful' is arranged here in a 'rock' style and includes references to other well known Christmas carols.

Brief references are also made to the choruses 'Grace ther is my every debt to pay' and 'Take up thy cross and follow me.No. 1241(1) Cornet Solo - In the bleak mid-winter (Trevor Worthington)A setting for cornet and band of the tune 'Cranham', written by Gustav Holst, with which we associate the words of the well-loved popular Christmas Carol.No. 1241(2) Invocation for thanksgiving (David Rowsell)Invocation, by definition, means ' a call to worship'. This music will serve this purpose for any Harvest or Thanksgiving service, using the tune, 'Come, ye thankful people, come'.No. 1242 High and lifted up (Steven Ponsford)This is music of an exciting yet relaxed nature, and it is intended that this piece be used to inspire and to 'lift up' listeners and players alike. Based on Michael W Smith's contemporary worship song, 'Open the eyes of my heart', this also contains the song 'Holy, holy, holy', to the tune of Nicea.
