Peter Warlock's set of set of six dances in renaissance style, Capriol Suite, is by far his most famous work. The suite consists of Basse-Danse, a lively dance for older folk; a stately Pavane; a delicate, yet lively Tordion; Bransles (pronounced 'Brawl'), a fast country dance which works its way into a frenzy, continuously building in speed and excitement; Pieds-en-l'air, with its beautifully serene lines and Mattachins, an exhilarating sword dance with its driving rhythm, culminating in violent dissonances bringing the piece to a spirited close. This is a new arrangement suitable for any band, including those in the 4th Section that relish a challenge. Percussion has been added in all but one of the movements, and is for two players. £40.00LA FIESTA (Brass Band) - Corea, Chick - Harper, Philip
Chick Corea is an American pianist and composer of Sicilian and Spanish descent, whose long career in jazz music continues to this day. A member of Miles Davis's hand in the 1960s, lie formed his own band Return to Forever in the 1970s before establishing himself as one of the greats of modern jazz. La Fiesta was composed in 1972 and included on Return to Forever's debut album. The music is in one in a bar waltz time and switches between Latin carnival style and jazz waltz, with stand-up solos for cornet, baritone and tenor horn. This arrangement was performed as part 01 the Cory Band's winning Brass in Concert programme in 2012. The publisher of this works suggests that it should be playable by championship section bands.

SYMPHONY No.2, Finale from (Brass Band) - Mahler, Gustav - Harper, Philip
One of the most life-affirming pieces of music ever composed, Mahler's 2nd Symphony, subtitled "The Resurrection", was first performed in Berlin in 1895. Mahlers interest in the mysteries of the afterlife is well-known and is a recurring theme throughout all his nine symphonies. Philip Harper has arranged the final passages of the 2nd Symphony, which begins with a profound hymn set to the words of Friedrich Klopstock-- Rise again, yea, thou shalt rise again. The music contains one of Mahler's magical transitionary passages, building in intensity, before the hymn is restated in all its majesty at the moment of glorious resurrection. This arrangement was performed as the finale to Cory Band's winning Brass in Concert programme in 2012. The publisher of this works suggests that it should be playable by 1st. section bands upwards.

Skidaddle will be the perfect item to provide a lighter moment in your band's programme. The composer Barrie Gott writes: ''Skidaddle' literally means to move in a hurry. This piece means exactly that - to get moving. I was experimenting at the piano at school one morning waiting for my first students and this little ditty came to mind. Four hours later I had the first draft done! It is supposed to be a bit of fun with a few technical demands for cornet and euphonium in particular. The semi-quaver (sixteenth) work needs to be precise. Try and get the audience involved and they'll be yours for the larger works on the programme.' VIEW SCORE PDF This uplifting and rhythmic fanfare by American composer J. Aaron Stanley will be an ideal alternative to the traditional fare that is written in celebration of the Olympic Games. The composer writes: 'Most of my works start with a concept and working title in mind before I even begin composing. But Fanfare for the Olympians, on the other hand, was titled afterward, allowing the music to suggest its own title. The festive, anticipatory nature of the work seems to build excitement and tension for something celebratory and grandiose, like the Olympic Games. Written in 2000, at the time, I was obsessed with quartal harmonies and asymmetrical meters. But the driving eighth-note pulse of alternating 2+2+3 / 3+2+2 is what drives the fanfare forward to its epic climax.'
