All arranged by Kevin Larsson, who has over 20 years' experience working with youth ensembles, they are designed to be flexible and playable by a wide range of different groups, including brass, winds and strings. The arrangements use limited ranges, keys and rhythms and fingerings and slide positions are included for accidentals on the brass parts. PDF parts come in both march card an A4 size. Scored for quartet, the arrangements will work just as well with larger groups. Featuring the songs He lives (S.A.S.B. 229), Chris is alive! Let Christians sing (S.A.S.B. 217) and No more! No more! He remembers sins no more (S.A.S.B. 460), the positive message of Easter Sunday is reflected in this bright march style.1356: Selection - I love the sweetest name (Noel Jones)This devotional selection includes three songs that feature the name of Jesus and derives its title from the following lines of those songs; 'How sweet the name of Jesus sounds' (S.A.S.B. 78), 'O, how I love the Saviour's name! The sweetest name on earth' (S.A.S.B. 94) and 'Sweetest name on mortal tongue' (S.A.S.B. 93).1357: Renewal (Harold Burgmayer)Will J. Brand penned the song Renewal (S.A.S.B. 634), with music by Bramwell Coles, for 'Day of Renewal' meetings conducted by General Albert Orsborn in October 1949. It was published in that form in The Musical Salvationist in 1951. Over time these meaningful words of consecration became wedded to an alternative tune, a lovely melody by Oscar Ahnfelt known as Trust in God (T.B. 903). This setting for band is based on a male-voice arrangement, conceived for a time of renewed consecration, sung by massed bands at the Canadian Staff Band's 50th Anniversary Festival in 2019.1358: Groove Hosanna! (Munashe Chikwezvero)This is a funk setting of three well-known melodies associated with Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem. Today, such celebratory processions, and indeed most large gatherings, usually feature rich forms of music-making. Music provides atmosphere and generates excitement, and it is hoped that a funk inspired arrangement of these songs will inspire listeners to 'move to the groove'. The first two songs, Children of Jerusalem (S.A.S.B. 356) and Give me joy in my heart, keep me praising (S.A.S.B. 362) encourage us to sing 'Loud hosannas to our King!'. The words of the third song, When his salvation bringing, remind us that he "smiled to hear their song".

474: Prelude - Tell me the old, old story (Munashe Chikwezvero)Arabella Hankey's verses (S.A.S.B. 150) were originally written in 1866 while the author was recovering from a serious illness. The music was then added by William Howard Doane in 1868. This prelude comes to us from a Salvationist composer from the Hunyani Corps in the Zimbabwe Territory.475: My Redeemer lives (Marcus Venables)This lively arrangement of My Redeemer lives (S.A.S.B. 223) was written for the North York Temple Junior Band. The music is designed to emulate the more challenging Salvation Army band pieces to which younger musicians might aspire, as well as being a joyful announcement of our Redeemer's resurrection.476: Filte (Roger Trigg)Filte (FAHL-cheh) is the Irish word for welcome. This music was written to commemorate the start of The Salvation Army's work in Ireland. It features the tune The Eden Above (T.B. 503) which is purported to be the first song performed by a Salvation Army delegation on Irish soil. The next hymn presented is King of kings, majesty (S.A.S.B. 376) which has been a significant song in the life of Belfast Citadel Corps in its more recent past. The piece closes with the confident music of the song I believe we shall win (S.A.S.B. 990).477: Chorus Arrangement - Follow, I will follow thee (Morgan Juel Stavik)This is a gentle setting of H.L. Brown's melody Follow, I will follow thee.

"Monteverdi - 3 Miniatures" was composed for the British Open Youth at the Guild 2015 by Adam Taylor. The piece uses small themes from a variety of works by Claudio Monteverdi presented in a modern and (hopefully!) suitable manner for brass band. A few notes on the work: i) Tempos may be adapted to suit your interpretation of the music. ii) The second miniature features a duet. You will find the parts for this duet seperate in both Bb and Eb. Please feel free to choose your own soloists for this section. iii) I have included 3 written percussion parts. Please feel free to add any other suitable percussive sounds if your section is large enough (tambourines, tenor drums, hand bells etc.), or if limited in numbers, do not worry about leaving parts out. iv) Feel free to add any ornamentation you or your players feel suitable and complimentary to the music. v) No sackbut's or Renaissance cornett's allowed. I very much hope you will enjoy playing this piece, and for those in your ensembles who have not yet heard the music of Monteverdi, I hope this piece may serve as a good taster and a fitting educational tool as a small insight into the music of the late Renaissance/ early Baroque period.
