VIEW SCORE PDF This trumpet solo was written by Nick Simmons-Smith at the request of Dallas Brass Band for a Christmas concert featuring Elmer Churampi, international trumpet soloist. The solo features three Christmas songs: i. Mi Burrito Sabanero voy camino de Belen (With my donkey of the Savannah, I'm going to Bethlehem) ii. Noche de paz (Silent night) iii. Campana Sobre Campana (Bell above bells, O bells of Bethlehem) These songs are all very popular in Central and South America - including Peru, where Elmer Churampi is originally from. Each tune has been given a different Latin treatment producing a fast-slow-fast festive concert solo. The solo is not long, but each movement could be played individually. The sisters Ruth, Anita and June Pointer from West Oakland in California learned how to sing in the sixties in church where their father was a minister. At the beginning of the 1970s they entered the music business, where they proved to have a mastery of many styles - including rhythm & blues, jazz, and country. However, the Pointer Sisters acquired international fame at the beginning of the eighties with their soul-like pop music. A great hit was the up-tempo number I'm So Excited, which is still a success on every dance floor. This sparkling arrangement by Peter Kleine Schaars certainly provides the excitement that is suggested in the title.

In this piece, the term "aftershock" serves as a metaphor for the Christian Church: commissioned by Jesus to carry forward the impact of his ministry and message. The Church is the spiritual aftershock of Christ's life, death, and resurrection - reverberating through history and into the present.Musically, the piece is constructed in three movements and built around motifs that pulse, echo, and resonate, symbolising the ongoing influence of Christ through his Church. Several well-known Christian songs are woven into its fabric, each contributing to the narrative of mission and worship. Build your Kingdom here (Rend Collective) affirms the Church's identity as "the hope on earth," while Major Leonard Ballantine's And you will be my witnesses (M.S. 1992-10) recalls Jesus' call to spread the gospel.The reflective central section features Matt Redman's I will offer up my life in spirit and truth, expressing personal devotion of a believer seeking to serive within the global Church.The finale draws on a traditional Salvation Army song by William Drake Pennick (S.A.S.B. 937), urging believers to proclaim the gospel far and wide: Tell the world, O tell the world!Make salvation's story heard;In the highways, in the byways,And in lands beyond the sea,do some witnessing for JesusWheresoever you may be.

Herbert L Clarke (1867 - 1945) is regarded by many as one of the finest cornet players of all time, noted not only for his amazing technique but also for his warm, lyrical tone. He has left a multitude of cornet solos as well as collections of studies which are still very widely used. He was a member of The Sousa Band briefly in 1893 and then from 1898 to 1917 where he was not only the distinguished cornet soloist but also became assistant director.The Maid Of The Mist dates from 1912 and is named after the famous sightseeing boat trips at Niagara Falls.This arrangement was prepared for a concert in May, 2009, given by Brass Band of the Western Reserve, musical director Keith M Wilkinson, in which Michael Sachs, principal trumpet of the Cleveland Orchestra, appeared as guest soloist.
