Stephen Bulla's 'Caelum Corona' ('Crown of Heaven') portrays, in sound, a Christian's walk in faith, intended metaphorically via a musical narrative reminiscent of the early church pilgrims, their struggles and triumphs. The composer initially evokes the atmosphere of Rome at the time of St. Paul and other martyrs, thus the Latin title. Bulla marks his imaginative tone poem with dark, brooding music in the first two of three parts, in each of which he has embedded an appropriate hymn or song reference as thematic material.

Deliverance is an exciting concert suite by Etienne Crausaz. The first movement is in the style of a siciliana, starting out quiet and calmly, then slowly building in excitement and energy. The second movement, a scherzo, allows for colourful sounds and timbres and is full of humorous musical elements and contrasts. The third movement, the vivace, presents a dialogue between the higher and lower registers of the band with plenty of time changes. Monterosi is a village in the Italian province of Viterbo in the Lazio region. This work has been dedicated to the Accademia Musicale Francigena in Monterosi, to celebrate the occasion of the third "Tommaso Albani", a national competition for wind orchestras. The first performance of Monterosi was conducted by the composer, who had been invited for the third time to be a jury member and guest conductor. It is a solemn piece, with lyrical tendencies, which demonstrates the glorious, full sound of the band.Duration: 4:15

Studio-Pop consists of five movements. The first movement, entitled Marching on a String, is an energetic rock march in a modern rhythm. Next, the charming Dreaming of Summer has been composed in three-four time - which is quite unusual in modern pop music. The inspiration for the third movement, Chicken-Charley was a youngman selling chicken legs from a stall. His supple, dancing movements can be recognised in the music. The fourth movement, Candlelight is a modern, attractive ballad. Finally, Discoteca takes us along on a night visit to a Spanish discotheque. The typically Spanish chords and the stirring, high-spirited rhythm provide an exuberant closing to Studio-Pop. 05:10

Anyone Who Had A Heart - Burt Bacharach and Hal David - Len Jenkins
"Anyone Who Had A Heart" is a song written by Burt Bacharach (music) and Hal David (lyrics) originally for Dionne Warwick in 1963. However, in the UK, Ireland and New Zealand, the cover version by Cilla Black was, and is still, the best loved. Championed by her friends The Beatles, she began her career as a singer in 1963, and her singles "Anyone Who Had A Heart" and "You're My World" both reached number one in the UK in 1964. From the first line, the song has a certain frisson: "Anyone who ever loved, could look at me, and know that I love you." Sadly, Cilla passed away on 1 August 2015 so this is our tribute to a well-loved lady and singer. Our objective has been to interpret the style of the original performance by Cilla, and whilst the time signatures may not be familiar, experience has shown that these are easier to read and play than the alternative using triplets.

When a Knight Won His Spurs - Traditional - Thomas, B
Many people of a certain age will be familiar with When a Knight won his Spurs. A God-fearing Knight battling fearsome dragons and ogres really sticks in the memory, along with the fabulous folk tune.Prefaced by a mysterious opening derived from the melody itself, the tune appears a further three times, linked by a glittering fanfare. The folk feel of the original tune has been retained, and the piece drives along using a dual 3/4 - 6/8 time signature. The first statement of the tune is a conventional harmonisation; the second statement uses more colourful harmonies, and the triumphal final statement follows a dramatic upward key change. Three minutes in length makes it an ideal opener.2nd section +
