This Selection from Giacomo Meyerbeers opera Robert le Diable was arranged by James Smyth. Enderby Jackson commissioned the arrangement which was used as the test piece for the third National Brass Band Contest held at the Crystal Palace, London in 1862.The purpose of this scholarly edition is to produce a performing version, clearing ambiguities and errors, that can be enjoyed by today's performers and listeners, bearing in mind the original function and context. At the same time the edition is an analytical, musicological study of one of the rare treasures of the brass band repertory.

Andrew Wainwright's sensitive setting of Breathe on Me, Breath of God was commissioned by Sione Malekamu Manu Jr for the 2026 Tonga Secondary School Music Festival, in memory of the late Sione Malekamu Manu. The piece offers a reflective yet powerful treatment of Edwin Hatch's beloved 1878 hymn. Set across two contrasting verses, the arrangement traces a spiritual journey from quiet contemplation to triumphant exaltation. The first verse opens with delicate textures and warm, blended tone, allowing the familiar melody - traditionally set to Robert Jackson's tune Trentham - to emerge with serene simplicity. Building seamlessly through a transitional passage, the setting broadens into a majestic second verse, celebrating the transformative power and majesty of the divine spirit. Concise yet profoundly moving, this arrangement showcases both the lyrical sensitivity and majestic power inherent to the traditional brass band. £29.95A Little Prayer - Evelyn Glennie - Robert Childs
Originally composed for solo marimba, this popular version of A Little Prayer was made in 1998 following Evelyn Glennie's collaboration with Black Dyke Band during the recording of their Grammy nominated Reflected in Brass CD. Robert Childs, then principal euphonium with Black Dyke, requested Evelyn's permission to make the arrangement for his son, David. The composer obliged, and Robert presented the score and parts to his son as a seventeenth birthday present. Evelyn Glennie revealed: "When I wrote this chorale for marimba, it expressed my spiritual feelings and displayed a pleasantly relaxed dimension of the instrument. Over the years my exposure to brass bands has filled me with wonder; their musical diversity is considerable. I had no hesitation in giving A Little Prayer to Robert Childs to bring this little melody to life." Having composed the work when she was only 13, Evelyn continued: "As a child I would never have believed that such a short and simple piece of music, would come to grow this much. A little Prayerserves to prove that one should always bet their chips on what they believe in, for nine out of ten it will be worth it!" After twenty years of exclusivity, Prima Vista Musikk is proud to make this beautiful arrangement available to all.
