Using a variety of Latin American musical influences the piece opens with a bass riff that is to be the prominent feature in this work. Accompanied with lively Latin American Samba Percussion section the work is reminiscent of the music heard at the world famous Rio Carnival. There are lots of Latin 'Riffs' and 'Licks' throughout the piece that keep returning in true samba style. This is a real fun piece to perform and the performing notes below act as a guide to getting the most out of this performance.Performing Notes:There are opportunities for soloists within the piece, particularly Solo Cornet, Soprano and Bongo's.When the Cornet and Soprano soloist play their solo part they have an instruction to stand out at the front to perform. It is at the players and conductors discretion where they would like to stand for their solo line.Obviously the Drum Kit soloist is restricted to their current positioning within the band. However, the other percussionists are quite at liberty to come out to the front of the band to perform their solo at rehearsal figure P at the conductors discretion.NB - At the 5th bar of figure P there is an optional repeat section. Performers can repeat this section over and over to extend the percussion feature. Or even add more players from the band to play percussion. If you do not wish to use this opportunity then dismiss the repeat so that there is a 16 bar section between figure P and figure R.There are also a variety of cameo roles for other soloists and musical sections during the piece. Other players and sections can stand to perform various motifs during the piece again at the conductor's discretion.Festiva Brazilia was composed for performers to have fun and enjoy performing the piece as much as possible. The 30 Day Technical Challenge This 30 day program is a step by step guide to improve your technique. Each practice session is laid out day by day, exercise by exercise for maximum technical improvement. During the next 30 days you will improve: Breathing Lip Flexibility Single Tonguing Finger Dexterity The Bootcamp will only require a small amount of extra time on top of your normal practice regiment. All you will need is a metronome and your instrument. It does not matter if you are grade 1 or grade 8+ this program will improve your technique. Practice Until Failure If you do not practice until you fail, you are not pushing your technique to its limit. Whether it be squeezing the last drop of air out of your lungs in a breathing exercise, or completing a tonguing exercise until your tongue is completely exhausted, the harder you push yourself the more progress you will see during the 30 days. Taking The Tests Take all 4 tests on day 1. Try to push yourself and reach the highest level possible. There over 20 levels that you can achieve on each test. Start each test from the beginning, playing each exercise at the stated tempo markings before moving on. Exercise 1 corresponds to levels 1 - 5, one level for each tempo written. Levels 6 - 10 are from Exercise 2, 11 - 15 Exercise 3 and 16 - 20 Exercise 4. If you reach level 20, continue changing the tempo on Exercise 4 until you reach failure. Add 1 level for every extra tempo marking completed. Make note of the level you achieve for each test, this will be needed for your comparison at the end of the 30 days. Once you have taken the tests simply follow the calendar and complete the set exercises each day. The weekend practice sessions ask you to repeat the exercises from earlier in the week. This gives you a second chance to push your technique further on each exercise. The Final Test Complete the 4 tests again on day 30 and compare your results. Good luck and enjoy the next 30 days!

New London Pictures represents elements of London in the 21st Century. The Millennium Bridge describes the pedestrian's journey across this wonderful new landmark bridge over the Thames, starting at the imposing Tate Modern, crossing the busy river, and onwards to St. Paul's Cathedral with its bells ringing out over the great city. London Eye is an incredibly large ferris wheel situated on the South Bank of the River Thames. This movement depicts a 'flight' on this riverside wheel, at the top of which the panoramic view of London is breath-taking and the expanse of the music is a suitable depiction of the view. As with all modern cities, London is over-crowded with motor vehicles. London is the first major city in Europe to adopt a Congestion Charge, and this piece (with its stop and go traffic lights) is both racy and comical. Here are Londoners attempting to go about their business in the face of overwhelming odds..... Suitable for Premier Youth/2nd Section Bands and above. Duration: 15.00

Brass Band parts only. 'A World Within' is a one-movement work that starts with a simple theme stated by the Soprano Cornet before an ostinato figure in 6/8 time emerges (Vibraphone, Horns and muted 2nd and 3rd Cornets) over which firstly Solo Cornet, and then both Solo Cornets (1 & 2), play a sustained melody. A shift between major and minor harmonies characterises the 'B' section, before making way for a virtuosic Flugel solo. When the Flugel leaves centre stage the front line Cornets take over, leading to a full bodied reprise of the 'B' section. The low brass bridge the gap between what is in effect the end of the first main section of the piece and the second section. The constant time shift between 3/4 and 6/8 that has been prevalent through-out 'A World Within', re-emerges towards the end of the 'slow, heavy blues' section, leading into an intricate almost fugue-like passage (Horn and Baritone leading the way). Out of this comes a short transitional bridge section that leads us back to the (transposed) original 6/8 time theme and feel, this time scored with a bold directness that leads to a powerful 2/4 time passage. The climax of 'A World Within' is heralded by one dark and dissonant chord that is repeated three times. A flashback moment occurs where the 'hymn' is stated (muted Cornets) in a bitonal harmonic world. A final statement emerges from the denseness of sound, a re-working of the initial theme (Solo Cornet), with the last work being left to Solo Eb Bass. Dur: 13:00
