On My Way - Phil Collins - Peter Kleine Schaars
The English musician Phil Collins has written six new songs for the animated Walt Disney film Brother Bear. His catchy pop rock is well known and popular with a worldwide audience. In Brother Bear, the young Kenai kills a grizzly bear to avenge his brother's death. Then he is magically transformed into a bear himself and he makes friends with the bear cub Koda. Together, they undertake a long, exciting journey in search of the mountain where Kenai can become human again. Meanwhile Kenai's remaining brother hunts them in order to avenge his family. Thus, the main themes of Brother Bear are brotherhood and friendship. On My Way gives voice to the courage and the determinationthat characterise Brother Bear. Peter Kleine Schaars has produced an excellent arrangement for band, which reflects the original film music very well.

Fantasia consists of three distinct sections that use thematic material from three separate pieces by Henry Purcell. The first section is based on the march from Funeral Music for Queen Mary which is dramatically dark and powerful but also uplifting. The Second section uses the devastatingly beautiful aria Dido's Lament or When I am laid in earth from the opera Dido and Aeneas as its basis and builds to enormous proportions, unlike the original aria. The third section begins with a haunting reference to the Rondo from Abdelazer. Gradually, this builds towards an exciting re-statement of the theme in the first section to the finale. Duration: 8.30

VIEW SCORE PDF This arrangement of the popular carol Ding Dong Merrily on High is the first published work by BrookWright Music of English arranger Stephen Tighe. This accessible setting receives a fresh, rhythmic treatment, aided by the use of sleigh bells and tubular bells. The tune itself first appeared as a secular dance tune known under the title Branle de l'Official in Orchesographie, a dance book written by the French cleric, composer and writer Jehan Tabourot (1519-1593). The carol was first published in 1924 in his The Cambridge Carol-Book: Being Fifty-two Songs for Christmas, Easter, and Other Seasons. Woodward took an interest in church bell ringing, which no doubt aided him in writing it. The macaronic style is characteristic of Woodward's delight in archaic poetry. The premiere performance took place in a packed Durham Cathedral, with the music for this pieces inspired by Durham Light Infantry soldier and renowned composer George Butterworth.
