The fourth work for brass band to come from Robert Simpson's pen has enriched the repertory still further. Introduction and Allegro on a Bass by Max Reger was composed between the end of June and the beginning of November 1986 at the request of Howard Snell and was commissioned by the Desford Colliery Dowty band. The Introduction is mainly mysterious and deliberate while the Allegro is full of energy. The Bass is question is taken from Reger's Fantasia and Fugue in D Minor, opus 135b, and at one point, near the end of the work, Reger's own treatment of the bass is used. The rest is pure Simpson. 'Prelude on St Clement's' was composed for the 2023 Royal Northern College of Music Brass Band Festival in memory of internationally renowned conductor and composer Bramwell Tovey. . Bramwell was the Artistic Director of the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain throughout the composer's 7 years as a tenor horn player in the NYBBGB and the hymn tune 'St Clement's (no. 82 in the 120 Hymns for Brass Band book) was used by Bramwell to conclude every course. This setting of 3 verses of the hymn tune 'The Day Thou Gavest. was premiered by the RNCM Brass Band in January 2023.

Randy Crawford led R&B veterans the Crusaders on the transatlantic hit "Street Life" (1979). A specially re-recorded version was featured in the soundtrack for the films Sharky's Machine and Jackie Brown. The composer Joseph Leslie "Joe" Sample (February 1, 1939 September 12, 2014) was an American pianist, keyboard player, and composer. He was one of the founding members of the Crusaders. but he enjoyed also a successful solo career and guested on many recordings including Miles Davis, George Benson, Jimmy Witherspoon, B. B. King, Eric Clapton, Steely Dan, Joni Mitchell, and the Supremes. Sample incorporated jazz, gospel, blues, Latin, and classical forms into his music. This arrangement can be used with a singer, but then need some attention to balance and please take away most melody lines. Electric Bass, Piano and Guitar are optional. If you would like to add an improvisation, please repeat bar 54 -62 without melody as many times you want. (Look at the piano part for chords).
