We all need a little buffoonery at times, and this enjoyable creation from Lucy Pankhurst completely hits the mark with its melody being so 'buffoon-like' in its movement and harmonies.Reminiscent of circus-style music, the piece is thinly scored to start and then gradually develops gentle variations of the melody. These are shared throughout the band until a peak of harmonies and tempo leads to a settled return to a more reflective ending.An imaginative development of a simple tune which makes for a versatile light concert item ... it's also likely that the main melody will stay in your mind days after hearing it!

In 1966 The Beatles released a single, which included the song Eleanor Rigby. £30.00Four Moods - Tim Paton
An original composition by Tim Paton, re-crafted from his quartet into a full brass version. Tim wrote this piece at the RNCM, initially for the college trombone quartet. It was subsequently featured on a radio broadcast and, by popular demand, he later created this full brass band version. It is also available for concert band.Four Moods is just that - made up of 4 sections, each presenting a different style and emotion. The piece opens grandly with Nobility and is shortly followed by Sentiment, a smooth and sweet movement. The third element - Humour - takes the melody just heard in the previous Sentiment, and makes fun of it in an amusing style which utilises 'rude' trombone glissandi. The whole piece is then brought to a memorable closing with the final section - Hot 'n' Cool, featuring a jazz/big band style.Good key players make this piece playable by most bands.

Based on "God So Loved The World" from John Stainer's "Crucifixion".In the 19th century, the English composer John Stainer wrote an oratorio named "The Crucifixion". It contains a beautiful a capella setting of the Biblical text from John chapter 3 verses 16 & 17. Although I have added a few obligati and counter subjects, and a short fugal link, for the most part, I have not tried to add too much to a beautiful piece of traditional harmony. What I have done, is to try to emphasise the subtle changes of tone colour in the unique sound of the brass band. "Meditation" is on the latest CD from Weston Brass. Originally conceived as a ceremonial work for the Band of the Royal Air Force Regiment, Veni, Sancte Spiritus was written for a Thanksgiving Service at St Clement Danes Church - the Central Church of the RAF in London. This evocative piece was inspired by the church's thousand-year-old architecture and resonant acoustic, creating a soundscape that is both reverent and atmospheric. In adapting the work for brass band, the composer introduces Vaughan Williams's hymn tune Down Ampney, seamlessly woven into the final sections of the piece. This lyrical addition enhances the spiritual tone of the music, aligning perfectly with the hymn text 'Come Down, O Love Divine', and lending the work its new title and emotional depth. £32.55Pachelbel Rock (Brass Band) Johan Pachebel arr. Steven Ponsford
Johann Pachelbel's Canon in D is a cornerstone of the Baroque period, a work widely known and frequently heard at concerts and events globally. This brass band arrangement by Steven Ponsford offers a new perspective on this classical piece. The arrangement begins with the familiar ground bass theme, followed by a series of four-bar motifs. Ponsford has developed these motifs, distributing them across the band to give interest to every section of the band. A short fugue is included in the middle of the piece, referencing a style Pachelbel contributed to. The majority of the music is accompanied by a rock beat, aiming to create a fresh and lighthearted interpretation of the original work. This will be an ideal item for both concert and entertainment contest programmes.
