The central Toccata is a series of traditional cadenzas for cornet and euphonium that ends ina virtuoso duet for the two soloist and leads directly into the Fugue. The baroque-style fugue keeps breaking out into episodes of 'Swingle' bebop. Mozart's opera, The Marriage of Figaro, was based on what was a rather scandalous play by Pierre Beaumarchais, because the drama involves an incompetent nobleman being upstaged by a crafty, quick-witted servant named Figaro, in their quest for the same woman. The action takes place in just one day and offers a series of awkward and humorous situations, complete with a vibrant dialogue between the all the main characters. Voi Che Sapete?is performed by Cherubino, who is about to be sent off to the army because the Count finds him a nuisance. When Cherubino appears before the Countess and Susanna to tell them of his fate, this aria is sung at the request of Susanna for a love song. Cherubino is characterized as a young adolescent who is in love with every woman he meets, and because his voice is yet unbroken, he is always played by a female singer.?Duration: 2:30

WHEREVER YOU ARE (Brass Band) - Mealor, Paul - Stubbs, Duncan
Commissioned by Gareth Malone for Series Four of BBC TV's 'The Choir' and first performed by Malone and The Military Wives Choir as part of The Royal British Legion's Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall on 12 November 2011, in the presence of Her Majesty The Queen. The text is taken from poems, letters and prayers written by the Military Wives, selected and adapted by Paul Mealor, and a passage from the Book of John. Selling a staggering 556,000 copies in the week leading up to Christmas, more than the rest of the Top 12 combined, Wherever You Are became the UK's Official Christmas No. 1 of 2011. A wind band version is also available. A contribution from the sales of the sheet music will be donated to the two nominated charities: The Royal British Legion and SSAFA Forces Help.

Franz Joseph Haydn's Horn Concerto No.1 in D major was composed in 1762, when he was new to the Esterhazy court. It is a virtuosic concerto that showcases the beauty and range of the horn. The concerto was originally scored for solo horn and orchestra, and is one of Haydn's most popular works. Here it has been arranged by Duncan Wilson for tenor horn with brass band. His arrangement of the concerto is a faithful and effective adaptation of the original work. The movement opens with a lively tutti introduction, followed by the entrance of the solo horn. The horn plays a series of melodies and passages that are both lyrical and virtuosic. The band provides accompaniment and contrast, and the two interact in a lively dialogue. The movement builds to a climax and then concludes with a triumphant coda. This light-hearted soprano cornet feature offers a fresh and entertaining take on the well-known Christmas carol We Wish You a Merry Christmas. Thought to date back to 16th-century England, the carol reflects a tradition of festive singing outside the homes of the well-to-do - often accompanied by requests for treats such as figgy pudding, a forerunner of today's Christmas pudding. Kenneth Downie's arrangement embraces the jovial spirit of the original, pairing nimble soprano cornet writing with bright, colourful scoring for brass band. The famous refrain, 'And we won't go until we've got some', sets the tone: cheerful, a touch cheeky, and full of seasonal good humour.
