Momentum Sequences was commissioned by Skjold Skoles Musikkorps (Norway) for their 60th Anniversary in 2021 (later adapted for brass band to Smoras Skolemusikk).The title of the term Momentum can be explained by an event that creates extra energy, or the driving force of a moving object. In this case, both the driving force,The energy and the object can be translated to the music, the conductor and the band.The piece is divided in three movements; I.Signals, II.Light and III.Finale which builds up the Momentum of the piece' character and theme.

This song by ABBA is the core of the European disco-sound in the eighties. It was released in 1980 when ABBA was in its superstardom. A good tune with almost a sing-along guarantee from the audience.This arrangement in the Young Band series is suitable for many bands as the instrumentation is limited in its demand to number of instruments. In the same series several ABBA items are available, and this piece can be programmed alongside other ABBA songs from the same series.This arrangement is similar to the original in form. The semiquavers in the tuba part may be omitted as they also are covered in the euphonium part.

The melody has to be played rhythmically, but also with flow and legato style.Please strive for best possible intonation and balance where the melody is played by several players.At bar 13, flugelhorn and 2/3 cornet plays a little counter theme. Please strive for best possible intonation and balance also on this. Be aware so that the cup mute sound fits the flugelhorn as good as possible.The quarter notes played by horns and trombones at bar 18 have both a harmonic and rhythmic function.This arrangement is made with several cue notes for some instruments.In the score, there are some parts marked with optional. "Optimist" is one of the most well-known songs by Norwegian singer and composer Jahn Teigen. It was written for the Norwegian Eurovision in 1989. It did not win this competition, but is still one of the greatest Norwegian songs from the late 1980's. This arrangement is very close to the original in form, rhythmic- and melodic lines. The repeat at bar 65 may be played as many times as one wish, or it can be omitted.

Prelude Festivo is intended to be performed both in concerts and in competitions and includes solo passages for most instrument groups. Duration 7,5 minutes. Form: Fast slow fast. The piece is built on two themes: Theme 1 (Allegro con spirito) is first presented as a cornet solo after a fanfare-like opening. Theme 2 is hinted at in the opening bars, but is presented fully in the slow (Andante) section (bar 141). This theme is developed and also appears as melodic and rhytmic fragments throughout the composition. In the concluding section (bar 196) both themes are played in conjunction before the piece concludes with the fanfare theme from the opening bars. Parts thatare marked piu mosso ed leggiero should be played in a cheerful light staccato style in contrast to Andante cantabile.

In this arrangement, the verse occurs in two different instrumentations. Please be aware of the balance between the melody and accompaniment. In the beginning of the arrangement, the bass ostinato may be devided by Tuba and Baritone.

King Arthur was the first of 28 scores Benjamin Britten (1913-1976) composed for radio between 1937 and 1947. It was an ambitious dramatisation of King Arthur's life and times - part pageant, part play, partcantata - written by D.G. Bridson. This colourful suite incorporates the Introduction, a dramatic Wild Dance, some of the music underscoring the scenes for Galahad and The Holy Grail, and two vividbattle scenes, ending with The Final Battle and Apotheosis. King Arthur (scenes from a radio drama) for brass band should not be confused with a much longer orchestral suite which Paul Hindmarsh devised from the same sourcein1995. King Arthur (scenes from a radio drama) will be played by the 20 First Section finalists on 16th September 2018 at this year's National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain.

Marchissimo will make a fantastic opening piece for any concert. It does however come with a twist! It can be played simply as written, but is really designed to be 'staged' with players coming on the concert platform one by one as they begin to play. The piece actually consists of three marches in one, each of which highlights a section of the band. The piece culminates in a final climax where all three march themes are played simultaneously.
