    Peche Melba - Peter Martin

A delicacy for the eye, ear, and taste buds that was originally created by a Parisian cook in London. A musical haven of peace as a dessert and a romantic highlight of a diner a la carte. The melodic lines are relaxed and smooth and will definitely take you to another dimension for a while.

Hymnus Antverpiae (Brass Band - Score and Parts) - Van der Roost, Jan

This hymn was commissioned by "Antwerpen 93". And this city, on the banks of the river Schelde has been nominated "Cultural Capital of Europe" for 1993. The work-group "animatie" took the initiative and commissioned a hymn, which -as the finale to a grand open-air event on 27th March- was premi?red by hundreds of musicians from all over Europe. Philippe Langlet (France) was the conductor at this majestic occasion. Musically speaking the piece can no doubt be labelled easy. Indeed it is meant to represent a hymn, playable by all in different instrumental combinations. Consequently a variable instrumentation was chosen and a type of music, which by native is easily accessible and uncomplicated. The conductor is free -in the instrumentation- to score this piece according to his own taste. It is perhaps advisable to use the sharp brass in the forte parts, in order to make the range in the sound of the orchestra as colourful as possible. The percussion parts are not absolutely essential, so that the hymn can also be performed without percussion.Duration: 4:00

The Ketchup Song (Asereje) - Francisco Manuel Ruiz Gomez

The Ketchup Song was a big 2002 summer hit for the Munoz sisters. The band is made up of three sisters, Lol, Lucia and Pilar who are the daughters of a famous Spanish flamenco musician called Tomate (hence Ketchup!). This fabulous arrangement will bring a taste of summer on the Costa to any concert.

    Canzona Bravura - Paul Lovatt-Cooper

I always enjoy writing solos, because it is a new opportunity to compose a piece of music for an instrument to demonstrate its full musical capability. In ‘Canzona Bravura’ I was asked to compose something new and fresh for the euphonium that portrayed its technical ability and also the sonorous sound this fabulous instrument has to offer. The piece is in ternary form with sections A/B/A (fast/slow/fast). I wanted to write music that sounded fun to play and also music that the audience would enjoy listening to. I also wanted to give the music a more modern feel and so the relentless quaver pulse from the ensemble provides a continuous heartbeat for the soloist to sit on and show off its technical capability. The euphonium shows off its technical ability through the slurred quavers and running semiquavers. However, the lyrical playing which is prevalent throughout the slow B section gets an introduction during the fast A section at bar 38. It gives the listener a taste of the slow melody that is to come and also an opportunity to join the euphonium with its unfashionable cousin the baritone as they play a duet together.‘Canzona Bravura’ definitely offers plenty for the soloist to get their teeth into and also allows them the opportunity to enjoy their lyrical playing to the full. There is a lot of musical material which is passed between soloist and accompanying ensemble which forges a strong musical link within the music. It provides an excellent opportunity for the music to connect with soloist, ensemble and audience.Paul Lovatt-Cooper

Oasis - Cornet Solo (Brass Band - Score and Parts) - Downie, Kenneth

The music 'Oasis' has adopted the meaning as described in Collins English Dictionary; 'a place of peace, safety or happiness in the midst of trouble or difficulty'. It is an original tune which should come over as a soothing, melodious song without words. The rubato marking at the beginning provides the soloist with plenty of scope for expressive, individual playing, within the bounds of good musical taste.

Cantique de Noel (Brass Band - Score and Parts)

The French composer Adolphe Charles Adam's (1803- 1856) carol Cantique de NoIl (better known in France as Minuit, Chretiens, and also widely known as O Holy Night) was initially criticised by church authorities who observed a lack of musical taste and the absence of religious perception. How wrong they were is now clear as the song is popular worldwide and is often performed in churches as well as carol concerts. Roland Kernen has produced this beautiful version of Cantique de Noel for brass band. 03:45

Revelation - Score and Parts - Philip Wilby

Symphony for Double Brass on a theme of Purcell 1995 marked the tercentenary of Purcell’s death, and my new score Revelation has been written as a tribute to his music and the ornate and confident spirit of his age. There are five major sections: 1 Prologue 2 Variations on a ground bass I 3 Fugue 4 Variations on a ground bass II 5 Epilogue and Resurrection The score uses many features of the Baroque Concerto Grosso, and arranges players in two equal groups from which soloists emerge to play in a variety ofvirtuoso ensembles. It quotes freely from Purcell’s own piece Three Parts on a Ground in which he has composed a brilliant sequence of variations over a repeating six-note bass figure. This original motif can be heard most clearly beneath the duet for Cornet 5 and Soprano at the beginning of the 2nd section. There is, of course, a religious dimension to Revelation as the title suggests, and the score is prefaced by lines by the 17th century poet John Donne. His Holy Sonnet paraphrases the Book of Revelation in which the dead are raised at the sounds of the last trumpet. Donne’s trumpets are themselves placed stereophonically “. . . At the round Earth’s imagined corners” and it is this feature that today’s players represent as they move around the performing area. Their final apocalyptic fanfares can be heard at the close of the score, as Purcell’s music re-enters in a lasting tribute to England’s first composer of genius. Philip Wilby September 1995 At the round Earth imagined corners, blow your trumpets, angels, and arise, arise from death, you numberless infinities Of souls, and to your scattered bodies go. All whom the flood did, and fire shall o ‘erthrow All whom war, dearth, age, agues, tyrannies, Despair, law, chance hath slain, and you whose eyes Shall Behold God, and never taste death woe. John Donne after Revelation Ch. 11 v.15
