Hark! (Brass Band) William Gordon

This celebratory work by American composer William Gordon is a rhythmic play on two well known carols - Hark! The Herald Angels Sing and Angels, We Have Heard On High! Although much of the music is set in 10/8, once the groove is achieved this piece need not be very complicated for the players and will serve as an ideal opener to your band's Christmas concert. The Lord Bless You and Keep You (Brass Band - Additional Parts) John Rutter

John Rutter's popular choral benediction is based on Numbers 6:24-26, and has here been arranged for brass band by Andrew Wainwright. It is a setting of a biblical benediction, followed by an extended 'Amen'. Rutter originally scored the piece for four vocal parts (SATB) and organ. He composed it in 1981 for the memorial service of Edward T. Chapman, the director of music at Highgate School, London, with whom he had studied when he attended the school. The story of Daedalus symbolises human ingenuity, and epitomises the complex relationship between human creativity and its consequences. His myths explore themes of innovation, pride, and the perilous balance between human ambition and natural limits. After designing the labyrinth for King Minos, Daedalus and his son, Icarus, were imprisoned in a tower in Crete. Daedalus fashioned wings from feathers and wax, and father and son set out on their ill-fated escape.
