From letter B, the melody is carried by horn and trombone with a majestic character.Ensure good precision in the accompaniment. From letter C, the style is Latin-inspired, resembling Samba. Alternative percussion solutions are possible here.From letter D, there is a pizzicato effect in 8th-notes, with sonorous melodic lines. The Mexican songwriter Maria Grever, wrote the melody in 1934 ("Cuando vuelva a tu lado") and it became a big hit for jazz-singer Diana Washington. Since that, it has been recognized as a jazz-standard and also featured in several movies. This arrangement was originally written for young, Norwegian singer Angelina Jordan. In this version, the level of difficulty and instrumentation are customized to fit our Young Band-series. Included in the set is parts for both string bass and vocals, but they are not compulsory to perform the piece. In this style, the accompaniment will have a slight swinging feel, while some of the contrasting elements has to be performed without swing(Even).

This is an original piece of music composed by Oystein Olsen Vadsten, inspired by old Norwegian folk dances. "Jumpety Jump" actually started out as a "reinlender" (Norwegian Folk Dance) which origins from Rhinland. The reinlender is well disguised in this arrangement by adding the shuffle- and swing style to it. The piece is first of all meant as a "happy go lucky" tune, but is full of rhythmical and technical challenges. Its put up as a jazz-tune, first presenting the melody, then "improvisasations" by the different instrument groups, before going back to the first theme. The title "Jumpety Jump" refers to the kind of jumping feeling the shuffle groove gives.

This song was released as single record by Swedish pop group ABBA in 1976. The lyrics is about two older veteran talking about the Mexican-American war. In this arrangement, the verse occurs in two different instrumentations. Please be aware of the balance between the melody and accompaniment. Stealing Apples is an old swing-tune written by Fats Waller. Performances by Benny Goodman and his big band made the song very popular. In this arrangement for brass band, the mallet percussion is very essential. Mallet Percussion presents the melody from letter A and is also featured as soli-instruments from letter L to P. These parts can alternatively be played as vibraphone solo. Please be aware of the balance at letter A. Horn and Trombones must play piano but well articulated. Letter D must sound sparkling and fresh with articulated and powerful trombones and cornets (using straight-mute). Make shue that the 8th-notes are not played too dotted two bars before letterG. Almost even 8th-notes accentuated on the start of the slur is a good tip. Watch the balance at letter H. This part have to sound homogeniously. The soloistic Soprano Cornet at letter Q must be played in the style of Benny Goodan. The accompaniment must not be too powerful from letter R to S. Best of luck with the performance!

A composition with the liberation from the Second World War as its theme. After a solemn introduction one hears the melody of the hymn Abide with you, which was sung a lot during the war. Following there are variations on the theme, finally leading to the magisterial conclusion that represents the ultimate liberation.The work may be interpreted as popular music (with the part for drumset), but a more serious version without drums is possible and, indeed, preferable.

A brief history: Pentecost Monday was a special day for schools in Yorkshire (England). There were a variety of activities. The pupils of Sabine Baring-Gould would meet with the children of a nearby village. It seemed like a good idea that during the walk would be sung. But she could not find a suitable song and decided to write one by herself. "Onward Christian Soldiers" was the result. It soon became very popular, though she herself was not entirely satisfied with the rhyme scheme. The melody used (St. Gertrude) was by the famous English composer Sir Arthur S. Sullivan. Back to now: Gawan Roberts, has given the hymn a proper update. He gave the still popularsong a solid rock beat and added daring harmonies. So it's popular, for current generations, again for years. Onward!

The Title Go Far is a word play referring to what the players are going to (GO FAR!) and the musical inspiration from the TV-series Fargo (Mr. Wrench & Mr. Numbers). The piece is very groovy and especially the drum kit needs to lead the band and preferably sound like good, old John Bonham (drummer in the band Led Zeppelin). The melody is inspired by cool Native Americans and the band really needs to bring their primal roar! The piece was written for Eikanger-Bjorsvik Musikklag and their annual summer band camp Feriespel in 2017
