£33.35Prelude in C-sharp Minor (Brass Band) Rachmaninoff arr. Rob Bushnell
One of Sergei Rachmaninoff's most famous compositions, Prelude in C-sharp minor (Op. 3, No. 2) is part of a set of five pieces entitled Morceaux de fantaisie. It was written when Rachmaninoff was only 19 years old and was first performance by the composer on 26 September 1892 at a festival called the Moscow Electrical Exhibition. This arrangement is for the UK-style brass band, with alternative parts for horns in F and bass-clef lower brass. The piece has been transposed from the original (for piano) of C-sharp minor to A minor, which better suits a brass band. There is another arrangement of this piece by Sandy Smith (published by Obrasso) which is designed for more advanced ensembles. This attractive Bossa Nova-style arrangement for vocal or flugel/cornet soloist with brass band has been made by Australian composer Sam Creamer. The key is suitable for male or female vocalists, or in the absence of a vocal soloist a part has been supplied for flugel horn or cornet soloist. A piano accompaniment that matches this band arrangement is also available here and may be used as an alternate accompaniment in the absence of a full band, or can be used simultaneously by a rhythm section alongside the brass band. Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas has been a Christmas favourite to many since its first release, extensively featuring in Christmas movies, broadcasts and programming. It has also been recorded numerous times by artists including Judy Garland, Frank Sinatra, Tori Amos, Michael Buble, Christina Aguilera, and Chicago. This upbeat, foot-tapping march by Welsh composer Jonathan Mead features the two well known Welsh tunes of Aberystwyth and God Bless The Prince of Wales. Aberystwyth is set as a big bold bass solo and careful attention will need to be paid to make sure that it sounds clean and together. God Bless The Prince of Wales first appears as a traditional hymn tune, before returning in a more vibrant, lively style, with florid scalic passages for the solo cornets and euphoniums. The march was written with St David's Day in mind, although will be an appropriate addition to concert programme throughout the year as either an opener or finisher.
