£35.00Pavane (Brass Band - Score and Parts) - Faure, Gabriel - Littlemore, Phillip
It is believed that Gabriel Faure wrote his Pavane as a piano piece in 1887, describing it as 'elegant, but not otherwise important'. He began work on the orchestral version a few months later, and scored it for modest forces, with the intention of performing it at a series of light Summer concerts that same year. At the behest of his benefactor, Elisabeth Greffulhe, he added a four-part choir, but it is rarely heard with the chorus these days. From the outset, the Pavane enjoyed great popularity. The music flows delicately and gracefully. A pulse beats gently and constantly beneath the arching melody lines, with elegant harmonic shifts and turns before the briefest of dramatic episodes. Calm is restored and the work draws to a tranquil conclusion. Duration: 6:00

Prelude on george Butterworth was composed as the prologue to the special Duhram Hymns event, alongside music by Orlando Gough and Jessica Curry, whilst using text by Carol Ann Duffy. The premiere performance took place in a packed Durham Cathedral, with the music for this pieces inspired by Durham Light Infantry soldier and renowned composer George Butterworth.

An old weather forecast on the Norwegian radio inspired Tone Hulbaekmo to write this song.Folk musician and composer Tone Hulbaekmo comes from Tolga, a small place in Norway. She have toured worldwide and many of her CD-released have received great acclaim both from the audiences and critics. Some of them have also won "Spellemannsprisen", the Norwegian equivalent to the Grammy award.Valleys Beyond is a Norwegian folk music style named "reinlender". It has to be played with a light swinging feel.

For Free Mind, a light and dynamic piece, Marc Jeanbourquin drew inspiration from a gospel song, namely "Oh, Freedom", a post-Civil War African-American freedom song. In these times of crisis, the composer wanted to retain a positive and energetic spirit to symbolise the hope for better days. The four notes of the theme "Oh, Freedom" occur throughout the work and are brightened up by lively percussions, giving Free Mind a sparkling character that will lift the opening of a concert with enthusiasm. Lux Aeterna - Harper, P
The title Lux Aeterna (Eternal Light) can be interpreted on a number of levels. Musically it has a rather mystical feel to it, and the single note with which the piece begins continues uninterrupted throughout, like an inextinguishable flame, or a constant source of hope. There are lyrical and song-like solo lines for cornet, flugel and euphonium.
