£34.95Song of the Night Sky (Cornet Solo)
Cornet Solo with Brass BandOrpheus is known as the most talented music player of the ancient times. It is said that god Apollo was his father, from whom took his extreme talent in music, and the Muse Calliope was his mother. Tragedy struck when his wife, Eurydice stepped on a viper which in turn bit her, injecting its fatal venom. Nothing could stop his cries of anguish and sheer pain and sorrow upon realizing his beautiful Eurydice was dead. Orpheus decided to go into the Underworld to get his wife back. Apollo, his father, would talk to Hades, the god of the Underworld to accept him and hear his plea. And so Orpheus set off into the Underworld and was warned that for no reason must he look back while his wife was still in the dark, for that would undo everything he hoped for. As Orpheus was reaching the exit of the Underworld, he could hear the footfalls of his wife approaching him. As his was approaching the exit, his heart was beating faster and faster. The moment he stepped on the world of the living, he turned his head to hug his wife. Unfortunately, he got only a glimpse of Eurydice before she was once again drawn back into the underworld. When Orpheus turned his head, Eurydice was still in the dark, she hadn't seen the sun and, was drowned back to the dark world of the dead. Waves of anguish and despair swept over him and shuddering with grief he approached the Underworld again but this time, he was denied entry, the gates were standing shut and god Hermes, sent by Zeus, wouldn't let him in.His songs were no more joyful but extremely sad. His only comfort was to lay on a huge rock and feel the caress of the breeze, his only vision were the open skies.Song of the Night Sky was recorded by Tom Hutchinson and the Cory Band in June 2015, featuring on his debut solo album.

£79.95Indian Summer (Fantasy) (Brass Band - Score and Parts)
The 'Indian Summer' is that of North America, and the music, entertaining but more than half serious, will perhaps evoke memories of tales of Native Americans. There are four movements:The Great Chief SpeaksBy the Cool WatersTotem DanceHymn to the Great SpiritProgramme Notes:This Fantasy is in the form of a Suite, although there should be no long break between each movement. The composer sometimes concocts a little story to illustrate the music, somewhat as follows:"The Great Chief Speaks": the warmth of Autumn's "Indian Summer" will soon be a memory, and hard Winter will set in; so the Chief must hold a great Powwow with his people"By the Coll Waters": a little girl, not interested in grown-up solemnities, slips away to a nearby lake. She gazes at her reflection in the water; executes a little dance, then falls to dreaming."Totem Dance": this will be exciting - the little girl goes running to see! The dancing becomes wilder, then rhythm more insistent, then suddenly silence."Hymn to the Great Spirit": the Powwow closes with a majestic utterance by the Great Chief. A hymn is sung to the "Great White Spirit", and the people turn their thoughts to preparations for the coming Winter.

£44.58City of David (Brass Band) Philip Rayment
This engaging major Christmas work features three carols or songs associated with the place of Christ's birth: Once In Royal David's City, O Little Town of Bethlehem (Forest Green) and How Far Is It To Bethlehem?During Old Testament times, the city of Jerusalem had been considered the 'City of David', as the political and spiritual capital of Israel. However, after Christ's birth, that name was given to the town of Bethlehem - a quiet farming village in the countryside. This new designation is first mentioned in the Gospel of Luke: ''For unto you is born this day in the City of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.' (Luke 2:11)A variety of moods are used to express:- The crowds of people arriving in Bethlehem to be taxed, overtaking the town, leaving no room for a young, pregnant Mary and her husband.- The stillness of the countryside on the eve of Christ's birth.- The excitement of worshippers celebrating the birth of a Saviour. To view performances of the work please visit:Canadian Staff Band: www.youtube.com/watch?v=0UC-j9jBsx4Five Lakes Silver Band: www.youtube.com/watch?v=aCn4JjQCe9ADuration: 7.30 minutes approx.Difficulty Level: 2nd Section +PDF download includes parts and score.Sheet music available here.Instrumentation:Soprano Cornet EbSolo Cornet Bb1st Cornet Bb2nd Cornet BbFlugel Horn BbSolo Horn Eb1st Horn Eb2nd Horn Eb1st Baritone Bb2nd Baritone Bb1st Trombone Bb2nd Trombone BbBass TromboneEuphonium BbBass EbBass BbTimpaniPercussion 1-3

£40.87UKRAINE2022 (Brass Band) Joe Galuszka
This highly descriptive work for brass band by Joe Galuszka is in four parts:I. Declaration of WarII. Hymn for the Children and Women of BuchaIII. ResistanceIV. Hope for the FutureThe composer writes:'On the 24th of February 2022, the geopolitical landscape as we knew it changed, when the Russian Federation invaded Ukraine in a Declaration of War, and what was masked by the Kremlin as a 'special military operation'. Now regarded to be the most significant escalation of the Russo-Ukrainian War of 2014 since the annexation of Crimea, millions of Ukrainians fled the country and many millions were displaced, the after-effects of the conflict sent shockwaves through the world - leading to a global food crisis, humanitarian crisis and a refugee crisis. As the conflict began to ripple through Ukraine, missiles and airstrikes would cause destruction across the country including its capital, Kiev, and ground invasions would follow from multiple directions. With some of the most atrocious acts of bloodshed in Mariupol, and Bucha, many women and children would stand to lose their lives. Hymn for the Children and Women of Bucha takes us to the early moments of the war where families were ripped apart and many innocent lives were lost.As all men aged 18-60 would be signalled into military service through a call for martial law by the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Resistance reminds us of the relentless tenacity of the Ukrainian people in standing up for what they believed was right, for their country, their Motherland, and for their people. As the combat rages on, numerous examples of Ukrainian inner strength and resistance can be found every day, as the pressure of Russian troops continues to bombard the lives and welfare of the Ukrainian people. The piece ends with Hope for the Future, and with it, a beacon of hope that we will one day see a future where the bloodshed will end, where fallen land is liberated, and where peace can return once more to the people of Ukraine. In her poem 'Spring in War-Time' from 1917, Sara Teasdale's words ring true again in this war, when she writes,The sun turns north, the days grow long,Later the evening star grows bright-How can the daylight linger on. For men to fight. Still fight? In this, we hope. That the conflict, soon, one day will end. And normality can return for the people of Ukraine. To listen to an audio demo of the work please visit https://on.soundcloud.com/dw53U9KZFUadvPYLADuration: Approx. 6.00 minutesDifficulty Level: 1st Section +PDF download includes parts and score.Sheet music available from www.brassband.co.ukInstrumentation:Soprano Cornet EbSolo Cornet BbRepiano Cornet Bb2nd Cornet Bb3rd Cornet BbFlugel Horn BbSolo Horn Eb1st Horn Eb2nd Horn Eb1st Baritone Bb2nd Baritone Bb1st Trombone Bb2nd Trombone BbBass TromboneEuphonium BbBass EbBass BbTimpaniPercussion 1-2
