This expert arrangement for brass band by Barrie Gott of Carl Maria von Weber's popular overture, 'Euryanthe' will be a terrific addition to concert programmes.'Euryanthe' is acknowledged as one of Weber's most important operas and is based on the 13th-century French romance L'Histoire du tres-noble et chevalereux prince Gerard, comte de Nevers et la tres-virtueuse et tres chaste princesse Euriant de Savoye, sa mye.Only the overture, an outstanding example of the early German Romantic style (heralding Richard Wagner), is regularly played today.This transcription for brass band attempts to realise the orchestral score as closely as possible. There are many technical challenges that will provide opportunities for the expert level of player and ensemble. It will be and exciting addition to a concert programme. VIEW SCORE PDF This trumpet solo was written by Nick Simmons-Smith at the request of Dallas Brass Band for a Christmas concert featuring Elmer Churampi, international trumpet soloist. The solo features three Christmas songs: i. Mi Burrito Sabanero voy camino de Belen (With my donkey of the Savannah, I'm going to Bethlehem) ii. Noche de paz (Silent night) iii. Campana Sobre Campana (Bell above bells, O bells of Bethlehem) These songs are all very popular in Central and South America - including Peru, where Elmer Churampi is originally from. Each tune has been given a different Latin treatment producing a fast-slow-fast festive concert solo. The solo is not long, but each movement could be played individually. Sweeney Todd Suite - Malcolm Arnold
Malcolm Arnold's ballet, Sweeney Todd, was first staged in 1959 by The Royal Ballet Company with choreography by John Cranko. The music was later adapted as a concert work and it is from this version that this brass band arrangement, by Phillip Littlemore, is made. The original concert suite lasts some 20 minutes, but this version has been shortened to a more manageable eight minutes.The first performance of this arrangement was given on the 22nd October 2006 at the Malcolm Arnold Festival, Derngate, Northampton by the Rushden Windmill Band conducted by Richard Graves.Brass Band Grade 4: Advanced Youth and 3rd Section.Duration 8 minutes.

DURATION: 3'30". DIFFICULTY: Difficult. 'Temperamental' was composed as the opening item to the Reg Vardy Band's 2019 Brass in Concert Championships programme, which revolved around the 4 temperaments of Human Nature - a theory by the Greek philsopher Galen from 450 BC. This funk-inspired short concert work is deliberately very schizophrenic in nature, encompassing all 4 moods and feelings into the music and featuring a number of soloists from within the band, notably the Flugel Horn, Solo Trombone and Percussion section. .

A New Life (Bra) - Leslie Bricusse & Frank Wildhorn - Paul Saggers
Jekyll & Hyde is a 1990 musical loosely based on the 1886 novella Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson. Originally conceived for the stage by Frank Wildhorn and Steve Cuden, it features music by Frank Wildhorn, a book by Leslie Bricusse and lyrics by all of them. After a world premiere run in Houston, Texas, the musical embarked on a national tour of the United States prior to its Broadway debut in 1997. Many international productions in various languages have since been staged including two subsequent North American tours, two tours in the United Kingdom, a concert version, a re-vamped US tour in 2012, a 2013 Broadway revival featuring Constantine Maroulis, and an Australian concert version in 2019. A New Life depicts Jekyll's love interest Lucy, dreaming for a new life without the fear of Hyde, however Hyde enters and finds a love note from Dr Jekyll to Lucy. In a fit of jealousy Hyde stabs her to death not knowing that he himself is Dr Jekyll.

According to his teachers, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (1840-1893), was not particularly gifted. His special talents were acknowledged only in 1865 when he had been working for the Ministry of Finances for some years. In 1866 he was appointed teacher at the Conservatory and applied himself to composing. His oeuvre is fairly extensive and many of his compositions receive a high ranking on the international list of classical music, including his six symphonies, solo concertos (violin concerto and piano concertos), ballets (The Nut Cracker, Swan Lake), and his overtures (1812 and Romeo and Juliette). In 1893 Tchaikovsky died of Cholera after drinking a glass of infectedwater. His Slavonic March is a popular concert piece for symphonic orchestra that is still frequently performed in concert halls. David Well arranged the theme and created a contemporary march in rock style. Tchaikovsky once said to an unsatisfied teacher: 'I will be a great composer within 10 years time.'

Diamond Concerto was commissioned by Musikverein Morschied from Germany - Dr. Eric Grandjean, conductor - for a special concert featuring Steven Mead as guest soloist. Together they gave the world premiere on 28th April 2012 in the town theatre of Idar-Oberstein.The commission is a highlight in the 30-year friendship between composer and soloist, which has included many mutual CD projects and concerts and, now, a concerto. Sparke had Steven Mead's special euphonium sound in his head throughout the composition process and made free use of the variety of styles which the world-renowned virtuoso has made his own during his highly successful solo career.The village ofMorschied lies to the west of Frankfurt am Main in the area known as the German Road of Precious Stones, which is famous for its thriving gem industry. Because of this it was decided to give the commission a local connection by choosing the title, Diamond Concerto. Each of the three movements is named after a famous diamond:1 EARTH STARis rather stern in mood, opening with a free fantasy for the soloist over a static chord from the band. This leads to an Allegro Moderato in minor mode where small motives are gradually repeated and developed by both band and soloist.2 OCEAN DREAMuses a varied quote from the composer's Music for Battle Creek, including a melting slow melody that was originally written with Steven Mead in mind.3 BLUE HEARTwas written, at Steven Mead's suggestion, in bebop style and takes the form of a jazz waltz. The quasi-improvisatory central section features a call-and-response passage for the soloist and upper woodwinds.Soloist: Difficulty 6Diamond Concerto is available for euphonium and piano (AMP 374-401) as well as for euphonium and concert band (AMP 354-010).

A thoroughly gripping melody of Irish descent constitutes the basis on which this exceedingly beautiful little piece of music rests. Down by the Salley Gardens is a guaranteed heartbreaker on your next concert. Since the lyrics of this Irish traditional are also supplied with the set, a combination of band with solo voice or even choir is a definite possibility. The Arranger: Leafing through a song-book containing traditionals etc., I was immediately struck by this song and its exceptionally beautiful and atmospheric melody. I simply had to do something with it. Een meeslepende traditional van Ierse komaf staat aan de basis van dit wonderschone werkje. Down bythe Salley Gardens belooft een hartenbreker te worden op uw eerstvolgende concert. De tekst van deze Ierse traditional wordt meegeleverd en daarmee is een combinatie met zang ook zeer goed mogelijk. De arrangeur: Bladerend door een liedboek met traditionals, enz., was ik meteen getroffen door dit nummer en zijn uitzonderlijk mooie en sfeervolle melodie. Ik moest gewoon iets mee doen.
