A Hymn to New England - John Williams

Written in 1987 as the accompaniment to New England Time Capsule, an Omnimax travelogue, and recently recorded by the Boston Pops, this three minute concert work adapts wonderfully for band. With true Williams craftmanship, it features brassy fanfares and a rich, sonorous hymn, all based on the same melodic intervals. John Williams' brilliant orchestration is successfully captured, making this a superb concert opener for brass bands.

Traditional carols are not usually thought of in a swing style. Yet Johnnie Vinson has found a creative way to arrange these favorites in a light and appealing jazzy style. This work has been expertly transcribed for brass band by Philip Sparke. Includes: We Wish You a Merry Christmas, The Holly and the Ivy, Good King Wenceslas.

A Joyous Day - Hilde Høyvik Dahl

This piece was written after a vacation to Dubai in 2011. A Joyous Day is a positive melody which express expectations, hope and joy. The melodic theme alternates between the instrumental sections to create more variation to the piece. The rhytmic accompaniment is quite simple in form but with challenges in some parts. The piece is written at grade level 2 and is suitable also for inexperienced bands.
