Arsenal was composed for the 50th anniversary of the 'Harmonie van het Spoorwegarsenaal'[railroad arsenal], based in Mechelen (Belgium). Rather a stately concert march, it has beautiful themes and a broad melody in the trio. It was premiered in the Mechelen Cultural Center on the 11th of May 1996 during the solemn ceremony, opening the anniversary year and conducted by the composer. In the mean time, Arsenal has been recorded several times by such renowed performers like the Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra, the Black Dyke Brass Band etc.Duration: 3:30

Toccata Festiva was commissioned in 1994 by the Dutch Brass Band Championships. The wind band version was made a year later by the composer himself. Historically speaking, the toccata is considered to be one of the first independent instrumental forms for keyboard instruments. Originally the toccata was typically more or less improvised, later this musical form was given a more regulated structure. Both elements are used in the Toccata Festiva: on the one hand the different themes are developed freely, on the other, the piece has an orderly structure. It is in a three part form (quick-slow-quick) and includes both strong rhythmical figures and broad melodic lines. Part of the composition is written in a more or less archaic tone idiom, referring to the period from which the toccata form originates (16th century).Duration: 13:30

Jazzimut (Brass Band - Score and Parts)
In 2009, one year after its formation, the Swiss brass ensemble Azimuts Brass commissioned its conductor, Marc Jeanbourquin, to write them a signature tune. He composed Jazzimut, which features a festive introduction followed by a lyrical theme. After a few bars of rock rhythm, Jazzimut goes disco and finishes with a recapitulation of the introduction as a fanfare. A lively, joyous item, ideal as a light interlude in any concert and especially appropriate for late season/Christmas themed events with its jaunty, positive sounds. Sue Hopkins has shown great creativity in crafting this arrangement of Glazunov's 'Autumn' movement, a bacchanale from his ballet The Seasons, hence its fondly referenced title of Autumn Bacchanale.Alexander Glazunov (1865 - 1936) was a Russian composer, music teacher and conductor. He was a child prodigy and was taught privately byRimsky-Korsakov, who said Glazunov's musical progress did not increase day by day but hour by hour. He began composing at age eleven and wrote his first symphony at age 16 in 1881 and it was premiered one year later.His ballet The Seasonswas first performed by the Imperial Ballet in St Petersburg on 20 February 1900 and was choreographed by Marius Petipa.It was written in one act and four scenes, and this piece represents the moment when all The Seasons take part in a glorious dance while leaves from autumn trees rain upon their merriment.
