The hit movie Backdraft is one of the earliest soundtracks by award-winning Hollywood composer Hans Zimmer. Starring Kurt Russell amongst many other stars the film plays a dignigned homage to the highly dangerous life of fire workers. Behind the racing engines and blaring sirens the soundtrack is easily lost in the film but is highly charged and a fitting backdrop to the action on screen. This authentic arrangement by Masato Myokoin retains all the excitement and action of the original and will be a great addition to any concert or contest programme. Sure to be a blazing success! Meditation on O Come, O Come ImmanuelThe Advent hymn we all know today as O Come, O Come, Immanuel was arranged in its modern form by Thomas Helmore and published in Hymnal Noted in 1856. Both the words and melody, however, predate this version by centuries. The words are based on a 9th century antiphon and the tune, Veni Immanuel, is taken from a 15th century processional of French Franciscan nuns, part of the setting for the funeral hymn Libera Me. This arrangement aims to expand on the power and mystery of the original tune and will be most effective if the solo cornet at the start and end of the piece can be placed away from the band, maybe at the back of the auditorium.Duration: 6:00

Chernigov is an area, originally part of the USSR, now Ukraine, originally inhabited by Cossack tribes. Johann Pachelbel's Canon in D is a cornerstone of the Baroque period, a work widely known and frequently heard at concerts and events globally. This brass band arrangement by Steven Ponsford offers a new perspective on this classical piece. The arrangement begins with the familiar ground bass theme, followed by a series of four-bar motifs. Ponsford has developed these motifs, distributing them across the band to give interest to every section of the band. A short fugue is included in the middle of the piece, referencing a style Pachelbel contributed to. The majority of the music is accompanied by a rock beat, aiming to create a fresh and lighthearted interpretation of the original work. This will be an ideal item for both concert and entertainment contest programmes. £32.97Men of Harlech (Brass Band) Welsh Traditional arr. Alex McGee
This contemporary take by Alex McGee on the Welsh folk song Men of Harlech will be an entertaining addition to concert programmes. The arranger writes: 'Men of Harlech is perhaps one of the most well known of all traditional Welsh folk songs, but not like this. This setting was inspired by a composer who I first encountered as a 14-year-old playing in his first regional brass band, Gareth Wood. Upon learning of the death of Gareth I felt compelled to honour his memory and his music in composition. I struck upon the idea to do what he had done to the tune Sosban Fach to Men of Harlech, to take the tune as the raw material and try to craft it into something new yet recognisable, modern yet accessible. The work attempts to highlight what for me are the underlying characteristics of we Welsh; prone to melancholy but quick to find joy, contradictory, inviting, welcoming and warm but capable of housing a fierce streak of nationalistic pride. I dedicate this work to Gareth Wood and thank him for his music.'
