VIEW SCORE PDF Nocturne for Brass Band & Percussion: The Lady with the Lamp was composed for the BrookWright International Brass Band Composer Competition 2020, the work later going on to be a finalist in the competition. The music celebrates the life and achievements of Florence Nightingale on the 200th anniversary of her birth. 2016 National Championships Regional Testpiece - 3rd Section. The novels by Jules Verne have been a rich source of inspiration for composers over the years. The Snow Carol - Harper, P

The Snow Carol (For Choir and Brass Band/Pianoforte) is an original melody, although the words have been adapted from the German song Snow Falls Softly at Night. Some of the harmonies of the carol have been borrowed from Gustav Holst and his celebrated setting of In the Bleak Midwinter. The upper band play muted in a minimalist style likr flurrying snow. None of the parts are technically difficult and most are repetitive, although players will have to count carefully and play with tight rhythm.
