Three popular Russian folk songs, including: 1. 'Kalinka', a Russian song written in 1860 by the composer and folklorist Ivan Larionov, first performed in Saratov as part of a theatrical entertainment that he'd composed. It has a bright, speedy tempo, featuring soloists from each section. 2. 'Krasny Sarafan' (The Wedding dress or Red Summer Dress) is a beautiful, slow and lyrical song. 3. 'My Little Gypsies' ends the suite at a brisk pace with vigour and vitality, featuring every section of the ensemble!

This is a beautiful hymn setting arranged for brass band by Steve Robson, inspired by the words of Charles Oakley (1832-1865), set to the melody of Little Cornard by Martin Shaw (1875-1958).Steve writes: The words of the opening line of the Hymn have added significance for me, in that I am fortunate to live high amongst England's most northerly hills, "The North Pennines".A strikingly beautiful melody which has been artfully scored by Steve to create waves of emotion throughout. The composer writes: 'I had wanted to write something in this genre after the success of the third movement of the Jazz Suite. Entertainment numbers are always needed for park and popular concerts. It is important that the rhythm section maintains a consistent tempo. They can be featured also. The samba rhythm and feel should be maintained throughout.
