The piece was originally written for brass quartet and choir, for Oslofjord Brass and Vivo Vokal's Christmas concert in 2019. This substantial work by Jan de Haan explores the many tonal qualities of the brass band. Following a quiet opening theme based on Phrygian tonality the band bursts into life with a massive climax. Following a jolly second theme characterised by large interval jumps peace and quiet is again restored. Both themes are developed with many poignant solo figures until we reach a resounding fortissimo climax with the solo cornet performing the first theme from the back of the auditorium. A spectacular concert work containing all the elements that bring out the best in brass band sound.

Terminalby Gauthier Dupertuis is an energetic, danceable work that captures the electric atmosphere of an airport terminal from morning to night. Repetitive rhythmic structures - symbolizing the constant hustle and bustle of an airport - form the connection between a majestic introduction and the central section, which explores a sound world tinged with 80s and 90s pop and funk music.The piece was commissioned by the Swiss National Youth Brass Band for the 2025 session of its B ensemble, also marking the Youth Brass Band 50th anniversary.

Arild Sandvold (1895 - 1984) began his studies at the Music Conservatory in Kristiania (Oslo) in 1906, in piano and organ as well as music theory. After his debut as organist and pianist, he had his debut as orchestral conductor in 1924. At the same time he also had two periods of studies in Leipzig. In addition to studies in piano and organ, he received tutoring in composition. He was a teacher at the Oslo Music Conservatory and organist and a cathedral cantor in Oslo for more than 50 years. Sandvold brought both Baroque and Romantic organ works to a wider audience. He wrote a number of works for organ, in addition to music for choir and orchestra. The polyfony of the lateBaroque and the harmony of the Romantic period serve as the basis of his musical style. "A Christmas Pastorale" arranged with thoughts about the brass bands possibility for sound and colour, and should be a nice piece to do on concerts in the Christmas time.
