VIEW SCORE PDF O Holy Night, also known as Cantique de Noel, was originally based on a poem by Placide Cappeau before being set to music by Adople Adam. This carol has become a favourite to many, being performed all over the world in various styles and forms. £26.15The Three Kings (Euphonium Solo with Brass Band) Cornelius arr. Wainwright
This beautiful arrangement of the much loved tenor solo The Three Kings was made for the GUS Band and euphonium soloist Mark Giles, for the CD recording Christmas Fantasia - The Music of Andrew Wainwright (2013). The Three Kings, or Three Kings From Persian Lands Afar, is a Christmas carol by the German composer Peter Cornelius. He set Die Konige for a vocal soloist, accompanied by Philip Nicolai's hymn Wie schon leuchtet der Morgenstern ('How Brightly Shines the Morning Star'), which he erroneously thought was an Epiphany hymn. In fact, it is an Advent hymn in which the morning star is an allegory for the arrival of Jesus, not the Star of Bethlehem. In Cornelius' original second setting, the accompaniment was played on a piano but the English organist Ivor Atkins later arranged the accompaniment for choir, with the choir singing the words of the original hymn. The carol describes the visit of the Biblical Magi to the Infant Jesus during the Nativity and is also used as an Epiphany anthem. £40.00Losgaintir. For solo Baritone/Euphonium and brass band
Recommended - Championship to 2nd Section Written for Katrina Marzella and the Black Dyke band, Losgaintir (or Luskentyre in English) is one of my favourite places in Scotland. Losgaintir is on the west coast of the isle of Harris in the Outer Hebrides and has an outstanding beach widely regarded as one of the most beautiful in the world. Losgaintir is a wonderful place to be on warm sunny days with its long stretch of white sands, aqua marine seas, the incredible mountain backdrop of south Lewis and the uninhabited island of Taransaigh in view. The weather in Harris is notorious for changing very quickly and this piece tries to reflect this. Although idyllic on a calm, sunny days, on stormy days Losgaintir's character becomes dark and foreboding, with low dark clouds and sweeping winds from the Atlantic creating a dark, brooding atmosphere. The opening melody (written modally like a traditional Scottish Gaelic air) depicts the calm serenity of Losgaintir on a beautiful summer's day. The character of the fast section that follows portrays winter in Losgaintir during a tempestuous storm with bracing winds. Florence Price was an American classical composer, pianist, organist and music teacher. She is noted as the first African-American woman to be recognised as a symphonic composer, and the first to have a composition played by a major orchestra. Price composed over 300 works: four symphonies, four concertos, as well as choral works, art songs, chamber music and music for solo instruments. In 2009, a substantial collection of her works and papers that had been previously considered lost was found in her abandoned summer home. Amongst these was this delightful work, Adoration, which had been composed in the 1950s for organ. According to IMSLP.org, the piece "failed to meet notice or renewal requirements to secure statutory copyright with no 'restoration' under the GATT amendments" and therefore is in the public domain. A version for violin and piano by Elaine Fine has become popular. This setting for cornet soloist with brass band has been arranged by Andrew Wainwright. It is also available as a Bb solo with piano here. The additional parts included in this download are for low brass in bass clef. The full brass band set is available here. Love Eternal was arranged by Gavin Lamplough for trombone virtuoso Isobel Daws to perform in a special concert with the Melbourne Staff Band to honour its Bandmaster Ken Waterworth, on the occasion of his retirement after 30 years of leading the band. The arranger uses Jarod Cooper's popular contemporary worship song King of Kings, Majesty as the basis for the work and the piece seeks to provide a vehicle for the rich timbres of the trombone to be enjoyed by the listener.
