Brand's song, Sing we many years of blessing.No. 427 A mighty fortress is our God (George Twitchen)The words and melody to this great hymn were written by Martin Luther and are based on PSalm 46. It has been called 'The battle hymn of the Reformation' for the effect it had on increasing support for the Reformer's cause. The words and melody are so closely associated with its author, that the first lines are inscribed on Luther's monument at Wittenberg.No. 428 Song Arrangement - I'd rather have Jesus (Peter Kim)Bandmaster Peter Kim from the USA Central Territory presents an arrangement of the popular gospel song, 'I'd rather have Jesus than silver or gold.' The lyrics were written by Rhea F. Miller in 1922 and have proved popular with many Christian denominations ever since.No. 429 Bound for Glory (Ian Feltwell)The song 'I'm a soldier bound for glory' was first published in 1922, is a great Salvation Army song of testimony and still remains a firm favourite today.

526: March - Summit Cross (Beat Hari)This exciting and energetic work introduces a new contributor to our journals. Beat Hari helps lead the band at Frutigen Corps, Switzerland. This march was composed with the intention of featuring it in an open-air concert beside the ski slopes. Members of the corps regularly join the band, instigating conversations with skiing guests by distributing bible verses and sweets. The composer has named this march because of the many Swiss mountains that have crosses on their summit as symbols of God's protection over the population living in the valleys below. The march follows a traditional format with a solid rhythmic construction built from the bass line.527: Christ is all (Olaf Ritman)The Salvation Army song, Christ is all (S.A.S.B. 588) is one that is cherished by the composer. The verses by Herbert Booth are both powerful and vulnerable and the melody by William A. Williams really touches the soul.528: My all to follow (David Edmonds)This piece pays tribute to all who have accepted the call to become Salvation Army officers and envoys. Such a calling involves significant change and can be difficult when leaving their comfort zone or moving away from family.529: We shall win (Alan Williams)William Hodgson's song We're a band that shall conquer the foe (S.A.S.B. 990) is one of confidence and encouragement in our daily fight against evil, sin and injustice, both in the world and in our lives. As such, this music should be full of that same confidence.

The Tricorn - Len Jenkins - Len Jenkins
The Tricorn is a style of three-cornered hat from Europe in the 18th century, generally referred to as a 'cocked hat' in Britain and popular in America at the time of the War of Independence. It may still be seen on ceremonial occasions as part of the town-cryer's dress in England and features in a popular German song for children 'Mein Hut, der hat drei Ecken'. However, in the case of this music, the reference is to the cornet section and the requirement for triple-tonguing on the Eb Soprano cornet. Whilst ostensibly a concert march in style, its jaunty rhythm makes you want to stride along and it may therefore be used as a 'road march' as well. Pressure on the Soprano cornetist as a soloist is reduced by adding the Solo Cornets to the melody line in the 'road march' version. With this in mind, we supply the music in both A4 (concert) and A5 (march-card) sizes as a package.

1343: March - Spreading the Word (Ian Clarke)This lively march features the songs Look, ye saints! the sight is glorious (S.A.S.B. 227), When we walk with the Lord (S.A.S.B. 690), I want to tell what God has done (S.A.S.B. 852), and makes reference to the old chorus When I remember that he died for me I'll never go back any more.1344: Prelude on 'Anstasis' (Sam Creamer)The Greek word anstasis translates to resurrection and particularly refers to the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The popular worship song O praise the name (Anstasis) forms the basis of this prelude. While the theme of this work is most applicable for Easter use, it could well find its place in programme and worship repertoire all year round.1345: Flugel Solo - The old rugged cross (Eiliv Herikstad)This Flugel Horn Solo (also playable by Cornet) includes chords on the soloist part so that the soloist can have improvisational freedom, or can play the written out solo.1346: March - Showers of blessing (Zachary Docter)This energetic march uses Gary Rose's melody Showers of blessing (STTL Vol.24, Pt.1).

COMPOSER: Neil LockThis march was submitted to the march composers' competition for "Bandamonium 3"in Hatherleigh, Devon in July 2024. The winning march was played by massed bands at the conclusion of the celebrations on Saturday 27th July 2024. Unfortunately, this march took second place in the competition, behind the march of Paul Pennicotte-Henrie, conductor of Okehampton Silver Band.The march can be played with or without the singing. (Even at the Whit Friday marches, begad!) I suggest that it should be introduced by 3-beat rolls.When played with singing, the "Bandamonium" lyrics (bars 10-13 and 56-57) are to be sung by all players, keeping to their own parts, with appropriate octave adjustment for their individual singing voices. Conductor and percussionists should sing with the main theme (Db and C at bars 10-13, F at 56-57). Listen to the 3rd cornet players!There is an additional part for Singers, in which the trio melody (bars 58 onwards) can be sung by Soprano and Tenor singers at a moderate choir standard. An octave-down option is also provided in the higher bars. This part can be given to "spare" singers within the band, or to singers external to the band if opportunity permits. 1379: March - True to the colours (Noel Jones)This march is a reminder of the symbolism of The Salvation Army flag - blue representing God's purity, red for the blood of Christ and yellow for the fire of the Holy Spirit. I love the dear old Army flag, I'll be true and Yellow star and red and blue are three songs featured where writers have been equally inspired and have made declaration of their allegiance to God by service in The Salvation Army.1380: In all its fullness (Alan Williams)This music was written for the East of England Youth Summer School in 2024, where the delegates explored the theme 'Living life in full colour with Jesus' and as such this work is a joyous and fun-filled celebration of all the good things God has provided.1381: Eternal Spring (Nick Simmons-Smith) This simple hymn tune arrangement is based on the tune Martyrdom which is associated with the words 'As pants the heart for cooling streams'. It is a Scottish tune written around 1800 by Hugh Wilson.1382: March Medley - Emblems of service (Stephen Bulla)This march celebrates the occasion of the Coorparoo Corps' reunion (now Carindale Corps, Australia) in 2022. The music itself features a spirited medley: Joy! joy! joy! there is joy in The Salvation Army, What a friend we have in Jesus and Steadily forward march!

(Doug Engle)This chorus by Doug Horley uses some 'invented' words, but it clearly communicates how our response should be to a God who loves us.
