The title of this march, published in 1962, refers to the pin originally given to the mothers, but now also the fathers, of cadets entering The Salvation Army's Schools for Officer Training.It includes the song, 'Mothers of the Silver Star' (words by Arch. R Wiggins, music by George Marshall) which was specially written for the first occasion at which Silver Stars were presented. Also included is a Salvation Army flag song, 'Yellow star, and red and blue' also written by the aforementioned Wiggins and Marshall.

Among the solos contained in this album are some of the 'heart songs' of The Salvation Army, some traditional melodies as well as four larger works. There are solos to challenge the younger player as well as some to test the most advanced soloist.These solos, many of which were only available with brass and accompaniment, have now been arranged with pianoforte accompaniment and come complete with an 'accompaniment CD'. £34.95The Canadian (Brass Band - Score and Parts)
The centrepiece of this decidedly patriotic and stately march is the Canadian anthem 'O Canada' although the original score (1932) refers to a different set of words ('O Canaan'). The anthem is presented in successively more ornate fashion in the trio section, the musical drama building like a Sousa march so that a da capo is not required. While now considered to be bit of a 'war horse', the march remains great fun to play.
