Celtic Romance - Peter Boris Koval
This arrangement of my piece is for solo euphonium and band. The solo part features lyricism with a Celtic feel, almost modal, with successive reappearances of the main theme more ornamented. The band provides rhythmic support, countermelodies, strong bass lines and variety of harmony. There are no extremes of range and the solo part's upper limit is B above the stave. Duration is 4:14 minutes. The overall mood is of introspection and emotion, yet with a foot-tapping beat.

TriumphantThis is a bright concert march in a traditional style and should pose no problems for the majority of bands.The first half of the march moves between the related keys of A min and C majThe march starts with a bold opening 2 bar statement in A min. At B the rhythm from the middle of the band should not be allowed to slow the pace of the march. C sees a majestic bass melody from Baritones downwards moving to D where a repeat of the original theme is presented before moving to the TRIO section. This moves between the related keys of F maj and D min. The melody heard at E is repeated at G with a florid counter-melody heard from 1st Baritone and Euphonium leading to the finish.

Festive Intrada - Bill Willis
FESTIVE INTRADAThis is a lively opener using the well know Christmas tunes of Silent Night and O Come, All Ye FaithfulAfter a bright opening, Silent Night comes in at letter B from Solo Cornets and Soprano followed by the Horns and back to the Cornets. This leads into a brief reference to O Come, All Ye Faithful from the Trombones before the full tune appears at letter C. Care with the syncopated rhythms to ensure the momentum is maintained. As the piece concludes, Silent Night returns, with a bar of Deck the Halls thrown in for good measure leading to a bright ending.

£29.50Battle of Britain - Ron Goodwin - Gavin Somerset
From the 1969 motion picture comes the overture from the epic war film, The Battle of Britain. The film tells the story of the summer 1940 where the British RAF, outnumbered, yet with radar on their side, strategically defeated the Luftwaffe. Unusually for a film, this picture had two scores composed, one by Sir William Walton and the other by Ron Goodwin. Following a decision made by those in charge at United Artists, only one segment of Walton's score was used to feature during the epic air battle scene. The remainder of the film's music fell to Ron Goodwin's who gave us the now famous title "Aces High" and the main theme. Keeping spirits high during World War II was essential, and music played a huge part. Darrol Barry's excellent arrangement 'Keep Smiling Through' has been pleasing audiences for years and can probably be found in most brass bands libraries across the country. This latest release of popular war time songs including 'Wish Me Luck, As You Wave Me Goodbye', 'We're Going To Hang Out The Washing', 'Kiss Me Goodnight Sgt. Major', 'Good Morning', 'Bless 'Em All' and the highlight of the piece, the slow, hair raising middle movement 'Apple Blossom Time', was originally released to coincide with the 70th Anniversary of the Battle Of Britain. All of these songs were sung as the London population camped out in the underground stations. This arrangement will get the feet tapping as audiences sing along to the lively pieces and then sends shivers down their spines with the gorgeous 'Apple Blossom Time' featuring in the middle of the medley. This is a piece not to be missed and should belong in all bands libraries.

Fanfare & Funk - Sam Fisher
This original work for brass band is the perfect choice to open a concert of contest programme. At just over three minutes, the music is in two clear sections, depicting the contrasting styles of traditional fanfare and modern funk. After a flourishing fanfare opening, the Cornets and Trombones lead a verse of the opening motif, accompanied by a rhythmically diminished version of the same motif from the Euphoniums and Baritones. This ostinato then leads us into a great entertaining funk section, with each section of the band rising to their feet as the piece builds to an exciting finale that is sure to engage audiences of all ages!
