This song was written in 1931 by Fabian Andre and Wilbur Schwandt with lyrics by Gus Kahn. It's now one of the most popular songs from the Great American Songbook and it's also recorded in many versions. Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong and Nat King Cole are among the most famous ones that have recorded it. In later years singers like Michael Buble, Diana Krall land Robin Williams have all recorded "Dream a Little Dream of Me". This arrangement is inspired by the version by American band Chicago from their 1995 album release "Night & Day".

Midwinter is a Christmas song about how the holiday can be a highlight even in the darkest winters. The piece was originally written for brass quartet and choir, for Oslofjord Brass and Vivo Vokal's Christmas concert in 2019. Epilogue is taken from the movie La La Land, released in 2016. La La Land won several important prizes that year, and especially the soundtrack written by American composer Justin Hurwitz received widely acclaim.Epilogue is a medley, presented in the original soundtrack, consisting of many of the most well-known themes from the movie.This arrangement was commissioned by Jaren Hornmusikkforening in 2018. The arranger has tried to transcribe the original music as closely as possible. However, some parts are slightly different from the piano-based original music. There are also some changes in keys to make the music more playable for brass band.The piece changes style and tempo often (as the original soundtrack), which requires good abilities for both flexibility and precision in the band.There are also several rhytmically demanding parts, as well as challenging parts for soloists.

This work was specially commissioned as the test piece for a new brass band competition in 1971, held at the Royal Albert Hall, London. It is in three movements, the titles of which all have literary connotations. The first movement, Dialoguetakes the form of 'conversations' between the instruments. The second movement, Soliloquy is dedicated to the memory of Gilbert Vinter - a composer who did so much in the 1960s to bring the brass band into the modern world. The final movement,Epigram, creates strong rhythmic contrasts and exploits the more virtuoso character of the brass band.

The evergreen My Way, originally a French chanson (Comme d'Habitude), was written by Jacques Revaux and Gillies Thibault and first released by Claude Francois in 1967. Since then the song has been covered by a variety of pop stars, including Elvis Presley. This arrangement is based on the Elvis version and within it the chorus appears in a swinging blues style. Wer nur den lieben Gott lasst walten was composed by Georg Neumark in about 1641 and was subtitled 'Trostlied' literally meaning consolation song. Songbooks at the time showed the popularity of this song and it is still well-known today partly due to Johann Sebastian Bach's use of the melody for one of his own chorals. In Jan de Haan's arrangement the choral is heard twice, once, alternating with the original motif from the introduction and a second time, without interruption, reflecting the composer's original intention - a song of consolation.
