£29.50The Big Country - Jerome Moross - Andi Cook
The opening of the main theme from 'The Big Country' is as iconic as any western theme ever written. The flourish from the strings (or cornets in our case!) allow your band to show off with detailed playing that is sure to grab your audience's attention from the word go. The film's composer, Jerome Moross was nominated for an Academy Award for his work on the soundtrack, but lost to 'The Old Man and the Sea' scored by Dimitri Tiomkin. This arrangement by Andi Cook faithfully recreates the excitement from the main theme that is now known throughout the world. This title has never before been publicly available to brass bands until now and is sure to be a hit with bands and audiences.

The Breeze And I - Ernesto Lecuona - Neville Buxton
The songs of Ernesto Lecuona may have been covered by more exotica artists than any other composer, yet they're relatively unknown except to fans of traditional Latin music. It's a shame, for Lecuona was a multi-talented artist and a pioneer of Latin music in America. A Lecuona song has everything an exotica lover could ask for: mystery, excitement and rhythm. "The Breeze & I" is no exception, starting with a Bolero, then moving from Beguine to Swing before returning to the Bolero to finish. Recorded by Jimmy Dorsey with Bob Eberly singing Al Stillman's lyrics, this tune became a number one hit in the U.S.

Cinderella (Overture) - Rossini - Julian M Blakestone
Rossini's Overtures are very distinct in their style, fanfares, heavy scoring and more memorably, the themes which he creates. For years, the Brass Band movement has enjoyed his well known "William Tell" & "Barber Of Seville" Overtures, yet the Overture to Cinderella has seemingly gone unnoticed. Now comes an arrangement by Julian Blakeston of this work, which has all the magic and excitement of his more "famous" overtures, although sadly until now has not been at the forefront of the Brass Band program.

Dance of the Troglodytes - Naomi Styles
If your resident tuned percussionist hasn't had much to do of late, then why not present him or her with Dance of the Troglodytes? While not strictly a xylophone solo, it features this instrument strongly with fast arpeggios over a steady tune that gradually rises in intensity and excitement. 'Dance of the Troglodytes' is one of a modern day 'Carnival of the Animals' - a series of brass band tunes inspired by Christopher Lloyd's book 'What on Earth evolved?' which ranks the species which have most influenced planet Earth. The music celebrates Homo Sapiens, ranked by Lloyd as the 6th most influential species. Emerging from Africa about 160,000 years ago from Homo erectus stock, Homo Sapiens' quick thinking, manual dexterity and increasingly complex tool making skills made it the only surviving human species. Now we humans have spread to every corner of the globe, shaping it through agriculture, transportation and industry. Dance of the Troglodytes echoes the rise of humans as they emerge from primitive life and gradually create the complex world we live in today.

£32.97Classical Concert! (Brass Band) Various arr. Alex Scaife McGee
Classical Concert! by Alex Scaife McGee is a high-energy concert medley that celebrates the enduring appeal of the classical canon while paying tribute to the legendary Harold Walters, whose Instant Concert and Hootenanny set the standard for this exciting style of programming. Drawing on some of the most recognisable themes in classical music, this arrangement weaves familiar melodies into a fast-paced, audience-pleasing showcase. The journey begins with the unmistakable excitement of Rossini's William Tell Overture, flowing seamlessly into Bizet's Carmen Overture. The intensity builds with Grieg's In the Hall of the Mountain King before lifting into the brightness of Vivaldi's Spring. Momentum continues through a thrilling sequence featuring Beethoven's Ode to Joy from Symphony No. 9, the dramatic fate theme from Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5, and the majestic power of Saint-Saens's Organ Symphony. A triumphant statement from Handel's Hallelujah Chorus sets the stage for rapid-fire appearances by Mozart's Horn Concerto No. 3 and Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake. The medley concludes with two crowd-favorite finales: Rossini's The Barber of Seville and the rousing, cannon-ready excitement of Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture. Ideal for concerts, entertainment contests, and audience outreach, Classical Concert! delivers non-stop excitement, instant recognition, and a joyful celebration of classical music at its most entertaining.
