Brass Monkey's Classical - Gavin Somerset

This release from the 'Brass Monkeys' series introduces your training band to some of the best-loved classical music around. Each piece contains a different challenge and something new to learn. With an opening from Clarke, marches from Tchaikovsky & Elgar, a lullaby from Brahms and memorable music from Dvorak & Holst, this is the perfect way for your learners to start playing some of the world's most famous melodies. The music in this publication is also a great way for your training band to join in on concerts with the senior band. This final item, 'Jupiter' from Holst's 'The Planets' has as well as the main melody, an optional, slightly more difficult section so the players have something to work towards even after conquering the main bulk of the work. Music included isaATRUMPET VOLUNTARY (Prince Of Denmark's March)MARCH SLAVEGOOD EVENING, GOOD NIGHT (Brahms' Lullaby)LARGO (From The 'New World Symphony')POMP & CIRCUMSTANCE No.1 (Land Of Hope & Glory)JUPITER (From 'The Planets')

Land of Hope and Glory (Brass Band - Score and Parts) - Elgar, Edward - Sparke, Philip

Elgar's five Pomp and Circumstance Marches were written between 1901 and 1930 with number 1 undoubtedly being the most popular of the five. King Edward VII told Elgar that the tune would 'go round the world' if words were fitted to it. Elgar took the hint and included it (with slight rhythmic changes) in his Coronation Ode of 1902, with words by A. C. Benson. Thus was born Land of Hope and Glory which is now, of course, an integral part of the annual Last Night of the Proms, when the audience (with varying degrees of success!) sing the words along to the original march. Now your brass band can enjoy all the pomp and ceremony of proms with this arrangement by Philip Sparke.Duration: 2:30

SPITFIRE: PRELUDE AND FUGUE (Brass Band) - Walton, William - Howarth, Elgar

Originally part of the score Walton wrote for the film The First of the Few, this fabulous music found greater fame in the concert version he made in 1942. Now, at last, here is an authorised version for brass band by an acknowledged master of the art, Elgar Howarth. The Prelude - essentially a march in his best Crown Imperial style leads to a dazzling Fugue which incorporates a quiet interlude before the dramatic finale. Whether used as a concert opener or roof-raising finale it is sure to delight audiences and players alike. Recorded on Polyphonic QPRL220D Master Brass (Volume Sixteen).

In Memoriam R.K (Brass Band Set - Score and Parts) - Howarth, Elgar

All England National Brass Band Championship 2007. Recored on Polyphonic QPRL226D Master Brass Volume 18, QPRL056D National Brass Band Championship 1992 played by Black Dyke.Composer's NoteRudolph Kempe, the German conductor, was much admired for this interpretations of late romantic music, particularly Mahler and Strauss. No such music exists in the brass band repertoire and this piece, deliberately written in pastiche style, serves both to fill the gap and as my own small tribute to one of the greatest musicians I have known.
