£39.95Introduction, Elegy and Caprice (Brass Band - Score only) - Calvert, Morley
This work was written by Morley Calvert, the Canadian composer, especially for the first European Brass Band Championships held in 1978.The piece consists of three contrasting movements. The Introduction opens with a slow, mysterious figure after the first fanfare-like unison notes. This leads to the main section, a quick 'one-in-a-bar' movement centred around a persistent figure.The Elegy opens with an unaccompanied Euphonium solo, which is then passed through to horn, cornet, and basses in the manner of a passacaglia. This is broken and then the movement fragments.After the tension of the Elegy, the Caprice provides much needed relief: a spritely dance, very rhythmical in character, the theme of which is thrown around the band with great abandon.

£30.00Jubilee Gigue - Debbie Wiseman
This piece was commissioned to be performed on the Georgian barge as part of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Pageant. Inspired by the "Gigue" (sometimes referred to as "Country Dance") in Handel's original Water Music, the piece has a rollicking, upbeat feel and is now newly arranged for brass band. The story that inspired the piece is of a pirate ship attacking the flotilla. The pirates are then confronted by the courageous defenders of the flotilla who are, of course triumphant in the end. The piece concludes with a final defiant statement of the heroic theme, and the pirates are gone forever.

£30.00We Wish you - Traditional
Little is known of the origins of this carol; it appears in none of the historic collections. It is however thought to originally be a folk song attributed to the 'West Country'. This link to the West Country is based on the carol's reference to 'figgy pudding' a localised, seasonal dish containing raisins or plums, somewhat like the traditional Christmas Pudding. The greeting 'We Wish You a Merry Christmas' is typical of the practice of 'Wassailing'; going door to door to sing, dance and offer seasonal greetings in the hope of receiving food and drink in return.

Savoy Christmas Medley - Traditional - Len Jenkins based on an original arrangement by Debroy Somers
The Savoy Christmas Medley is a well-known and often played piece originally arranged from traditional music by Debroy Somers a big-band bandleader in the 1920's. William Henry (Debroy) Somers was an ex-army bandmaster who formed the Savoy Orpheans dance band, resident at the famous Savoy Hotel between 1923 and 1927. Whilst there are several editions of this music for full Brass Band, this latest arrangement has been tailored to suit a brass quintet with optional percussion. In many cases the availability of players around the festive season, or the space to accommodate a full band in some of the venues for Christmas engagements or for fundraising, means that a Quintet can be the preferred option. In order to achieve a good Quintet arrangement, it is necessary to achieve the same quality and diversity of sound as a full band but within a smaller group. A challenging objective which we believe has been achieved in this publication. In common with our developing practice, the arrangement is scored for both Brass Band and Concert Brass instruments.

There are numerous sets of variations based on Paganinni's famous violin piece, but surely this is the only one written as the result of a wager on a football match! The composer wrote these variations for his cello-playing brother Julian in payment of a bet on a Leyton Orient match and they later formed part of the show Song and Dance. Peter Graham's arrangement of some of the best-loved sections ideally suits the euphonium.

Although the music makes technical demands on the players the piece is, nevertheless designed to involve rather than impress its audiences. There are four movements: 'Towers and Chimneys' which is both heraldic and mysterious; 'Churches: Lord of the Dance' is an arrangement of the famous shaker melody made popular in Martin Shaw's hymn of Jesus' life and history; 'Pastorale: Sunday Afternoon recalls those long and languorous days before television, and 'Coronation Day Parade' - a community celebration with a brass band at its centre. The title of this piece reflects its upbeat, forward-driven character. It starts out with a soul groove, carrying a prominent theme which invites players and listeners to dance. The slower middle section features a blues with optional solo parts. After the return of the soul beat, the piece concludes with a striking reaffirmation of the initial theme. On a Roll may be performed as an effective opener or as an upbeat rhythm item during a concert or contest. On a Roll was commissioned by the Zurcher Blasmusikverband for the Zurcher Kantonalmusikfest 2024 in Urdorf/Schlieren, Switzerland.

£75.00Fanfares and Love Songs - Gavin Higgins
Fanfares and Love Songs was commissioned by the National Children's Brass Band of Great Britain for performance on 25th July 2009. Its three movements contrast the extrovert and lyrical qualities of thetraditional brass band. The fanfare with which the work opens involves the whole cornet section. The second movement is reflective in mood, beginning somewhat pensively on muted brass, and building to an emotional climax beforesubsiding back to a distant pianissimo chord. The finale is a fast dance, which with a final recapitulation of the opening fanfare drives on to a breathless close. Brass Band Grade 4: Advanced Youth and 3rdSectionDuration: 12 minutes
