Salutations (Bra) - Roel Laethem
Salutations was commissioned by the saxophone choir Colours of Sax and their conductor Sofie Gijsbers. They requested a lively overture with different characters, in which the ensemble could showcase all its timbres. The original composition immediately had many brass band characteristics and was subsequently expanded into a concert opener for brass band.

Guitar Zero was commissioned by The Flowers Band for their 2024 Brass in Concert programme, "Game On".It is an ode to the fast-paced rhythm games that were incredibly popular in the 2000s.The most famous of the genre is without a doubt Guitar Hero, where players could feel like they were on stage with iconic bands such as Metallica, AC/DC, Aerosmith, and many others!

Fantasia on a Flemish Sea Song (Bra) - Simon Van Hoecke
'Fantasia on a Flemish Sea Song' was commissioned by Jeroen Berwaerts and VLAMO for the gala concert of the European Brass Band Championships 2017. These took place in the Belgian seaside town of Ostend, which explains the choice to make a fantasy on the sailor's song "Al die willen te kap'ren varen". A first reference to the song can be found in a Ghent song collection from 1856 by E. de Coussemaker: "Chants populaires des Flamands de France". The fantasia is faithful to tradition composed in a free form with variation elements and allows the soloist to showcase virtuosity and narrative power.

"The Water Is Wide" is a folk song of Scottish origin, based on lyrics that date to the 1600s. Classical composers like Benjamin Britten and John Rutter made arrangements for voice, piano and strings. David Byles made a beautiful version for band, perfect for any concert and/or occasion.
