The Asteroid Belt was commissioned by the Desford Colliery Band to use in the 2018 Butlins Mineworkers National Open Brass Band Festival entertainment programme, entitled 'to Boldly Go'. The piece is a short, cinematic 'tour de force' that depicts a journey through an asteroid belt, twisting and turning between the asteroids, alarms blazing and the imminent threat of a collision. DURATION: 5 minutes. DIFFICULTY: 4th+. The Gallant Sister was commissioned by the Spennymoor Town Band, and the title is a reference to the local wartime community hero Kate Maxey, who was awarded the Royal Red Cross award for gallantry and distinguished service in the field after being seriously injured in March 1918 whilst working as a Sister in France.

DURATION: 4 minutes. DIFFICULTY: Championship. The title of this work comes from a line in Martin Luther King Jnr's famous 'I Have a Dream ' speech, portraying the vast expanses of the plains of Georgia and the notable red hue to the surrounding mountains. This piece is very much influenced by the music of American wind band composers Samuel Hazo and Richard Saucedo, both of which are regularly inspired by the scenery of 'the big country'. This piece was composed for Jaren Hornmusikkforening as part of their programme for the 2018 SIDDIS Championships held in Stavanger, Norway. .
