Based on the book by Victor Hugo, Les Misrables has been entertaining audiences around the world since its first performance in London in 1985. Whilst the initial critical reviews were not favourable, the paying public disagreed and the success of the West End musical led to a Broadway production. The show had a big revival in 2012 with the release of the hit film. In this new specially arranged Concert Suite, which features a built in encore - the Epilogue to the show (should you wish to use it) and an optional cut omitting the more difficult sections (making the work accessible to lower section bands), this work gives your band the chance to bring a touch of Broadway to your audience. The Suite features the Prologue, On My Own, Bring Him Home, Master of the House, One Day More & Can You Hear The People Sing? Pachelbango - Pachelbel - Ed Keeley
Pachelbel's most famous work as you've never heard it before. This arrangements features all sections of the band and gives them a chance to shine making the piece perfect for both concert or contest venues. Pachelbel's Canon in D is one of the most famous pieces of classical music of all time. Simply written for 3 violins and a cello, the music is basically 8 bars repeated 28 times. Mostly unforgotten until the 1970s it has become one of the most recorded pieces and used at more than 90% of all weddings as an introit. This arrangement has reset the Canon into a Latin-American tango style, pushing it into a new accessible groove and will bring a smile to your audiences & players. Utopia - Max Stannard
This solo was composed for Amy Partington and the Friezland Brass Band for their performance at the Red Admiral Entertainment Contest. The band won most entertaining performance and the award for best composition or arrangement. The piece is based on the theme of Utopia, representing left wing anarchy, in a set which also featured the Sex Pistols, System of a Down and Black Sabbath, this provided a gentle contrast to the mayhem. Based on themes from Beethoven's Pastoral Symphony and Vivaldi's Spring's 3rd movement, this is a beautiful solo which shows of some lyrical and gentle euphonium playing.
